I still remember playing all the games for "Altogether" back in the day.

Good times.

Yeah, I remember when they were Revolve Translations, even.
And when they were decent because Taka was around.

>>10671747
Too bad most of them were only decent at best, but Seung Park and Ed Keyes were what I'd consider the perfect translating team in ideology back then (perhaps not in practice).

About two thirds of translators are douchebag normals. I think this is because a translator will likely be the kind of person who takes more joy from attention whoring and feeling like they're in a position of power than the actual visual novels themselves. It's also funny how those same translators will say "everything that's worth translating will be translated" which really just means "everything me and my fellow attention whores like will be translated". I'm most bothered by the people who actually put up with their shit and kiss their asses, though. They're pathetic.

Why does JAST USA take so long on everything they do? I imagine most companies would be able to do what they do three times as fast.

I remember some joke about message wanting the installer to work on his kitchen appliances. Anyone know how it goes?

Westernization process. They are making sure no underage girl is getting fucked in their game. Which lead them to censoring a loli in X-Change 3. Alternatively the dude who mentioned on their forum that they censored out the loli got perma banned too.

>> No.10677656

>>10677622
Have their been any other cases where they've censored scenes out? That sounds pretty shitty.

>> No.10678415

>>10677656
Yes. And their "uncensoring" jobs are quite horrifying, too.

Don't support them.

I don't remember message's one, but I remember "a VN on every toaster" thing by ONScripter devs (Sonozaki futago-tachi?):
>2007-06-12
>Get the build working on Solaris (a useful benchmark for how well things work on less Linux-like platforms) and NetBSD (a useful step towards my ultimate goal of a visual novel on every toaster).

I hate JAST as much as the next guy (if not more than that), but the last time they did that was back in 2009. It's like pointing out MangaGamer has incomprehensible translations - it used to be true, and the games from back then remain affected by it, but these days they don't make that mistake anymore.

>>10675140
Let's say, for the sake of argument, that you are entirely correct and translators are translating solely to have people suck their cock. They would still be translating entire VNs for us, asking only for a bit of ass-kissing in return. I don't know about you, but I think that's a pretty sweet deal; kissing their asses (our part of the deal) is a whole lot less effort than spending countless hours translating an entire VN (their part of the deal). So why are you so against it? Even without kissing their asses (letting others do it), you still get to enjoy the translations.

>>10671747
I dropped most of them shortly after starting. Crimsoness was very awesome, however. (Seriously, people who weren't around back then: Look it up and play it, it's very short and very awesome.)

>>10677463
Likely because the profit isn't worth the effort. If Peter spends the same time on, say, J-List instead, the resulting profit would be much greater. Decent VNs hardly sell, and even their highly profitable nukige probably give much less profit than J-List.

I posted >>10675140 after reading the comments of several translators on VNDB. I've never realized just how conceited most of them are until now. I had to post something about it. If others want to play along and kiss their asses, fine, but I'm certainly not going to partake in that, and I'm definitely not going to keep quiet about how pathetic they look either.
