When the Umineko theoryfags started calling people "goats" just because others didn't agree with their opinions/theories (whether or not they were proven wrong doesn't matter)

I remember shortly after EP5 got released all the Umineko threads in /jp/ were nothing but Shkannontrice. Those threads were so long, stupid, and confusing that I started resenting Umineko and its fanbase after that. How people could talk about a theory in a gory "mystery" novel aimed at 14-year-olds for several days on end without getting bored is beyond me.

Good luck with that. The Umineko VN sold really badly compared to Higurashi. You could tell as well by the number of people voting in Umineko compared to Higurashi popularity contests. Ryukishi stopped publishing the numbers of votes but the last poll had a third of the votes Higurashi had gotten and their number had declined compared to the previous ones. I.e. people got into Umineko after the success of Higurashi and ended up abandoning it. It sold well for a VN but it wasn't nearly as successful as Higurashi.

I remember reports from previous Comikets that Umineko sold really slowly compared to Higurashi, which got sold out extremely fast.

I don't see how it's a plothole, it was explained fairly well in the story in EP7.

Of course, if you try to think of it from a strictly mundane perspective, it starts looking like "split personalities" or something. But it's really nothing like DID (the symptoms of DID are completely different). Actually, I find that it's startlingly similar to the idea of a "tulpa." It seems obvious to me that Beatrice (I refuse to call her by the other name that is basically an insult) created these personalities herself and is able to give them access to the physical body.

The "Kanon is dead" and other such things are really not that difficult to figure out. In the first place, being "dead" for a human is basically the state of not being in possession of a physical body, so as long as the personalities in question satisfy that criteria, they can easily be considered "dead." In the same way, they can also "come back to life."
