Doesn't sound like much but Unlimited 1cc is really easy once you learn how to abuse your bombs and breaks. You can literally dodge nothing and still no-miss up to the TLB if your timings are good. first you'd want to look up scoring replays of one of the games you are most fond of, while reading up on the scoring system via the wiki for example to help understand the players decisions. if you think it seems appealing from watching the replay, try to emulate the player but not too closely. start doing tiny things differently from how you'd normally do them. eventually you'd want to study the run more closely to help tighten up your strategies and actually play for score for real, but it takes time to get there. just make sure the game actually fits your playstyle first. for example you may be a person who likes EoSD, but you may also dislike suiciding, in which case it wouldnt be a good game to play for score.playing for score requires a lot of consistency so at first i wouldnt take it too seriously, unless maybe if you choose to play easy mode to help focus more on the scoring aspects of the game and less on pure survival, although it might be boring.

Not the same person, but I would absolutely recommend that you play with the game on your own for a while before looking up high level replays. That way you'll get to enjoy making discoveries. At least, that's what I enjoy the most about scoring. You're robbed of that if you go straight to having everything "shown" to you. By the time you do want to push the boundaries, you'll have a much, much better idea of why the player did the things he did.

Not him, but I would highly advise against doing that, especially for a game like PCB. You have to put your knowledge of the game's scoring system to use and try to experiment and create your own routes. Copying HS won't help you learn the "why" and the "how" aspect of what he does.

Three hours training my scoring abilities on tough stages, an hour watching superplays and trying to observe what they do. After the four hours, I'll take an hour-long break and exercise, relaxing with a little bit of meditation afterwards, and possibly a calming game of my choice. After that, I'm back to playing STGs or Quake, depending on how I'm feeling. This was my daily schedule back when I was very serious about getting better at a game some years ago. I realized that I didn't have talent, so to really shine, I had to put a lot of time and effort into it.

I've lost many nights of sleep playing STGs and fighters alike. The competitive nature is what keeps me playing. Starting at the feet of the bullies and working your way up is such a satisfying feeling.

About 5 months ago I was finally able to 1cc IN on normal. I have been rotating between MoF and UFO. I can currently get to the end of MoF, but can't beat Kanako. I can't get past stage 5 on UFO. Should I just continue working on these two games or go back to IN and work on hard?

Or do you believe their is an easier game to 1CC over these two?

Only only game I have 1 CC is PoFV.

Do some deep breathing while you play, you'll end up being a lot calmer. And try not to think about other players while you're playing, it's very frustrating when you miss on something extremely easy, and you end up recalling the upsetting things that somebody has said to you. hey /jp/, i'm looking into buying a SNES controller with which to play mah 2hus. (I know people say that the saturn controller has the best dpad, but snes is what I grew up playing with so probably will be the most comfortable). A lot of the reviews on amazon and stuff, however, complain about stiff dpads and other issues, which they rate as good enough for their super mario kart or whatever, but I would rather have an authentic experience for my 2hu since I expect to one day become a somewhat high performing player. Do you have recommendations about reputable places to buy a USB SNES controller that feels like an original? Would I be better off buying an adapter and using the controller I have?

>> No.10673784

>>10673704
I recommend you to get an adapter for your controller (snes controller I am assuming). Many of the USB snes controllers are pretty bad in quality and probably wouldn't last too long in a high demanding game of shmup. You may also go for the alternative and go for the Hori Pad, it has a cross pad just like the snes and it has a more tactile feel which is nice.

Ask yourself, are you having fun with the game still? If yes, screw the clear, just keep playing it because it's fun. If it's not fun anymore, play something else for a while and get back to it.

After failing all cancels in stage 1 I was thinking to restart, but decided to carry on with it. A few deaths and failed cards here and there, bad PoC movement and such. You'd probably call it purposeful, but it really wasn't. Clueless.

You're not too late to get into the games, there're still new players just starting and there's plenty of achievements to further be had in the west.
There's a lot of good fangames of all genres for Touhou, and they are listed out on the Touhou wiki, be sure to check there.
Youtube is an easy place to find a lot of touhou fan animations if that's what you're looking for, it shouldn't be too hard to find a large amount to dig through once you start searching a bit.

So I don't now where else to ask this but my Internet-fu is bringing up nothing:

The Cave Shooting Collection dropped in Japan a few days ago, and it includes a disc with all the DLC (including Futari 1.01 and MMP Matsuri) waiting to be installed to a hard drive, presumably DRM free.

I'm going to go out on a limb and presume that at least one /jp/er has purchased this.

Theoretically, would it be possible for someone to take one of those discs, install the DLC, copy it onto a USB drive, and post it on the Internet for the enjoyment of mankind, much like people have done with the Fallout, Oblivion and Borderlands GOTY DLC discs?

And, in theory, would anyone have done that? Specifically, Futari Black Label and 1.01?

I'm pretty sure nobody no focused LLS or MS yet. same can be said for 90 fps for both of them as well as SoEW. There are 2 90 fps 1ccs for PoDD with yumemi and rikako respectively, so you can try your luck with any other character.
if you don't want to play Pc-98 for some reason, you can always try some oddball challenge for the windows games like clearing PoFV without anything but using your shot (no charge, no focus, no pressing x...) or more 90 fps challenges nobody has done yet.

yeah, pretty much everythiing has been done before by a few good palyers.

>> No.10699648

>>10699642
Definitely. First of all, I'd like to know if there's a specific part of a stage or a boss fight that kills you every time. If yes, which ones?

Af far as more general advice is concerned:
Try to memorize the stages. All the stages in the game will become considerably easier if you follow a route that allows you to deal with large enemies quickly.

Oh and for when you reach the Stage 3 boss, keep a bomb ready for its final attack. It can be quite nasty.

thanks, yes it's mainly the boss that kills me. His second attack to be more specific. if it's not him it's just stupid mistakes like backing into a bullet at the beginning of stage 2 and such.

>> No.10699685

>>10699653
I see. Well yes, backing into bullets I cannot much to help you with. I do that sometimes myself and it's quite annoying. Preventing me from reaching very far into the loop.

I don't know how to go about preventing that with certainty but try to pay more attention to where you move and when.

As for the boss, the 2nd attack, if it is what i'm thinking it is, is a static pattern with aimed bullets. Therefore you can dodge it by following the same path everytime.

I too found it hard to do at first but after learning it, not even the loops version of the attack is that scary. I recommend using savestates to practice the attack.

Play B-L. It's the easiest ship for survival.

>> No.10699941

>>10699932
I wouldn't recommend anything but the EX ships. True enough, Ex ships give you less bombs but they more than compensate for that due to being much better in terms of firing power.

When I tried those ship types, I found myself in needs of bombs more than I did with the EX type because they weren't as good at killing things.

A-EX or B-EX is what I recommend. B-EX is really good for easy survival though i personally prefer A-EX for being faster, more powerful and overall more fun to play with.

Do this at the start.

Also, try to keep your hit count up, both for scoring as well as for gaining hypers. The more chain you have when you pick up a bee, the more your hyper meter is boosted, up to 200HIT.

>>10699932
I wouldn't really recommend this. You use hypers a lot more often than bombs, using Leinyan instead of Exy only gives you like one or two extra bombs per life, and a strong shot is important to have in a lot of places.

You're streaming Touhou, right? Anything more than the game's native 640x480 is a waste of bandwidth.

With 800 you can get pretty good quality at that res, especially if you have a good CPU to improve the encoding.

I play 960 windowed while streaming, and (not sure if relevant) I'm not using an old crt monitor that can't go over 800x600.

I'm new to streaming so my settings are probably unoptimized.

What I am understanding from your post is that I should play the game in 640x480, but that's ridiculous.

My CPU is an i5-3550 if you'd like to know.

Not suggesting that at all! Your stream will scale it back to the original game resolution.

And yeah, that's a good CPU so (at least in FFSplit, for example, not sure about others) you can run a slower encode to get more quality/bitrate.

>> No.10702658
