But he was wrong on one aspect anyway. There were little Japanese related aspects ever used in those movies, most were Chinese being passed as Japanese, since the Americans were (and still are) too dumb to know the difference.

I just watched this one on netflix where a Japanese American boy marries a Japanese exchange student to give her a greeen card. By the end thing don't turn out well for them, but you are left with thinking they will get back together. It was a college film and acting was bad. I still liked it. It deserves a remake.

This movie had a Japanese man in it. They got away with quite a lot of racial stereotyping, it'll be interesting to see what they do in the remake. Probably make the guy an otaku.

It's mostly pompous film executives who are in it for the profit that they know they will make. There are plenty of new writers and directors out there with great originals, but no one is willing to give them a chance to usher in a new age of cinema.There is still a lot more 80's remakes scheduled for ahead.

I can't say it any better than the owner of Gibson's Guitar Company, Mr.Gibson, when he titled his last album a year or two ago "How to make popular music that sells", when talking about music. Japan may have J-pop and idols, but Japan is producing a lot more Bands that are creating the classic rock of our generation. Japan is the new home to Rock and Role, while in America we've seen all of the Classic rock bands releasing new albums since 2010.
