currently self-study.

a few years back, i studied chinese at cornell. they used "colloquial chinese" (the old p.c. tung edition) for elementary, and "A New China" and "All Things Considered" for intermediate/advanced level classes.

i'm currently using MIT's open course ware material and a couple of advanced readers published by the Princeton in Beijing program, and I created a modified Heisig system to help with memorizing those pesky obscure characters that I'm running into now.

let me know if you need more details.

ps. the online MIT textbook by Julian K Wheatly would provide an EXCELLENT grammar foundation if you're just starting out with Chinese.
