/jp/, do you by some obscure chance have a phone?

If so, what unnecessary things have you downloaded for it?

Just going to get this in early:

Smartphones are small computers. You can take them to the toilet when your floor is full. Phoning and texting are minor features as far as modern phones are concerned. Dumbphones are for calls and SMS, smartphones are for games and toys.

I keep playing it and learning how to help the environment.

I plan on getting that iloli thing, but haven't got around to rooting my phone to get it. Why won't google let me by nippon things without rooting??? Seriously, they're only losing money.

Are you sure? I do recognize that their original functions of phone calls and SMS have been crowded by a deluge of other utilities, but for me and most other people I have observed they are still used primarily as communication devices.

I've only used smartphones for over a decade, but my current one is rather old now that I've become full shut-in in the recent years. I was thinking of maybe getting a more basic phone next - as long as it has qwerty keyboard. I can't stand the shitty touchscreen toy fad. I hope it ends soon.

I have a lot of those japanese apps with the girl that you can pet and such. The only one really like is Shizuku Talk though. The Neptunia one is fine, but I want Noire, not Neptune. Other than that I browse /jp/ on it, usually while hiding in the bathroom whenever I'm in public.

Shizuku Talk is cute and fun, I also have Brushes installed although I suck at touchscreen painting. My favorite is iMaschine, which is a little 4-track music and beats app.

I wish I had more cute stuff, it helps me take it easy.

My phone is just a really, shitty flip phone that won't even let me record my own ring tones. I have an ipod touch I use to browse /jp/ in the early morning when I don't want to get out of bed because it's too early though. /jp/ in bed is enjoyable.

I have a cheap android one. Extremely useful as a Japanese dictionary. I use aedict with Swype Beta 1.4 as the keyboard. It's godly as you can quickly change between Japanese 9-key input, tegaki, and standard English keyboard.

Used to have an iPhone 3GS that broke, had to sell for parts on ebay. Using a Huawei Ascend g300 now. I don't like it as much as my old phone, haven't really changed much except for the ringtone. I mainly use it as a clock when I go out or for watching youtube videos before I go to sleep.

I refuse to have a cell phone because they are tracking and surveillance devices. They all enable the phone system to record where the user goes, and many (perhaps all) can be remotely converted into listening devices.

In addition, most of them are computers with nonfree software installed. Even if they don't allow the user to replace the software, someone else can replace it remotely. Since the software can be changed, we cannot regard it as equivalent to a circuit. A machine that allows installation of software is a computer, and computers should run free software.

When I need to call someone, I ask someone nearby to let me make a call.

What to use instead? The most obvious alternative is a long-distance phone card. They are quite cheap nowadays, and they work with any phone.

Android is very different from the GNU/Linux operating system because it contains very little of GNU. Indeed, just about the only component in common between Android and GNU/Linux is Linux, the kernel. People who erroneously think "Linux" refers to the entire GNU/Linux combination get tied in knots by these facts, and make paradoxical statements such as "Android contains Linux, but it isn't Linux". If we avoid starting from the confusion, the situation is simple: Android contains Linux, but not GNU; thus, Android and GNU/Linux are mostly different.
