Can you recommend any old "adventure-style" visual novels?
Stuff like YU-NO, Divi-dead, Eve: Burst Error, etc.
I love the format because it feels more interactive and you
actually have to work at it a bit (although Divi-Dead's map
was just bullshit) and I love the older limited-palette art style.

I think they never actually show feces though. For example in one of the scenes (warning, don't read this if you think scat is gross) a girls licks the protagonist's anus to clean it (they've been held prisoner and haven't had a chance to shower) and the narrator explains how she's pulling off the dingleberries with her tongue.

MOON. was pretty short.

I really liked the music but I wasn't so impressed by the ero scenes, haha.
I had it rated 6/10 on vndb and I guess that's fair. There was a little deja vu but not much, I pretty much completely forgot what happens in the game.

I want to thank >>10481010 and >>10481189 for suggesting it. Decent way to kill time. I didn't see the scat scene mentioned (maybe it was in a bad end I managed to avoid) but I did encounter one where the protagonist is described taking a dump in the Elpod room. Just ctrl past it, no images, thank goodness.

I think I'll check out Season of the Sakura next.
How does the web player compare to the old programs themselves? I remember once trying to play Divi-dead online and having a rough time of it.
