Why are you still playing visual novels the old fashioned way, /jp/?

>> No.10475523

I'm an old fashioned guy.

>> No.10475536

Because I don't feel engaged through YouTube videos.

I want to live vicariously through the VN. I'm sad.

>> No.10475541

That feel when you can't skip through the stupid voices.

They should add a "skip" annotation with a time anchor for each line of dialogue.

>>10475536

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks it's stupid to watch a visual novel through youtube instead of actually playing it. I have a PSP and I have the game, someone just patch translations in it so I can play it already.

You might be in the wrong hobby.

I play visual novels to read and look at pictures, not to hear someone talking over them. I hate voiced adventure games for the same reason--many classic point and click games have amazing writing but the voices ruin it.

If I wanted to listen to shit and get through the story in four times the amount of time, I'd download a radio drama.

Yeah, it's called actually playing the game and not a recorded video

Visual novels aren't games, they're interactive fiction. Interactivity does not a game make (see: PowerPoint, MS Paint, certain webcomics).

No I meant literally, as in they are physically in orbit of something as per Newton's law of universal gravitation.

Imagine the following: you're walking through a dungeon, while all off a sudden, the path splits into several directions. Each corridor before you has a treasure chest in it containing a token, each of different type. You enter one of the corridors, take the token in it with you and keep walking until you discover that the different corridors join into one after a while. So you keep going forward until you come across another fork in the road and you have the choose another pathway and pick up another token. This repeats several times until you can no longer go forward, because you're faced with several locked doors. The only way to open one of those doors is by putting in a certain amount of tokens of a specific type, with each door having different requirements. Behind each door is another pathway, but unlike the previous branching paths, these do not join together anymore after a while. So you go through the door that you have enough tokens of the right type for and continue your journey. Along the way you come across several more junction points, some with doors, some not, until you finally end up in a long, straight pathway that leads out to one of the dungeon's several exits.

Now, rudimentary and boring as this may be, is this a game?

Is UNIX a game? I mean, you interact with it and have either good or bad results. Isn't it one of those sandbox games?
