Ever17 is one of the best works that have been translated. Individual routes are weak but the whole is... different. It's basically impossible to say why without spoiling things so leave the thread and go read it.

No, that's not why I'm saying this.

I loved the shit out of it while I was reading it. I thought it was an excellent work. There were many plotholes and I was on the edge of my seat as I read along. But, when I got to the end I felt like I had been trolled. The ending of the ultimate overarching "true" route is nonsensical, and the only explanations I've found are:

- "2DEEP4U"
- "It's magic, I don't gotta explain shit."
- "The authors decided emotion was more important than having a logical plot."

A deus ex machina is a sudden, non-foreshadowed, inconsistent plot twist that solves the problems in the plot. Blick Winkel was none of those. Throughout the entire story, you are bombed with information about the third eye and the fourth dimension, and even Blick Winkel's name is mentioned before the true route. It's what the entire story genuinely works towards, and a logical solution following from the plot. You might have been thrown off by genre expectations, since all of it is hard sci-fi (I recently discovered even retinal scanning display is real) and Blick Winkel's existence is more theoretical and speculative, but the story has no obligation to keep to genre standards.

If you're talking about Kid diving into the sea, that one is indeed kind of bullshit, but the story at least gives some justification; Cure virus has modified him to survive such a thing, as displayed in Sara's good end, where he makes an impossible swim to the surface without any internal damage (whereas normal people would drown and at least have severe internal damage). WHY he did that is a more difficult to explain thing, but eh, sometimes you just have to accept things without thinking too hard about them.

As for you, if you're the kind to never finish any VN, stay away from Ever17. It will be underwhelming if you don't read it fully. The routes are mostly just buildup towards the true route, which is the best route in any VN ever but requires you to have read Tsugumi's, Sara's and You's routes (the game also forces you to read Sora's route, but it adds practically nothing).

I'd recommend something like Clannad, where the individual routes are great to still give you a good time even if you drop it halfway through.

Nice try, but it has nothing to do with foreshadowing. Just because they went on boring tangents about dimensional physics and voodoo bullshit does not mean it was a well written conclusion when they popped an existence out of nowhere and gave it abilities with no logical explanation that tied the plot together.

Kid goes to the bottom of the ocean and lives.
Blick winkel resurrects takeshi magically. "Rise, rise! There is no death for you."
Takeshi decompresses from like 12 atmospheres to 1 atmosphere in a few seconds and survives without a problem.
Blick winkel shows up at the surface to see coco and takeshi playing around, but then he realizes that there's no way they would have survived. Only once he makes this realization does coco vanish and takeshi turn into a pile of fuck. The pile of fuck is also in the same position takeshi was walking around in for no explainable reason.

NOTE: Picture is Never7 spoiler.

>>10456680
>Kid goes to the bottom of the ocean and lives.
Explained in >>10456558.

>Blick winkel resurrects takeshi magically. "Rise, rise! There is no death for you."
Takeshi was only just about to "drown" (he can't actually drown, only lose consciousness, due to Cure virus), because he gave up on surviving as his goal had been accomplished. BW called out to him before he lost consciousness, causing Takeshi not to give up and thus survive.

>Takeshi decompresses from like 12 atmospheres to 1 atmosphere in a few seconds and survives without a problem.
Cure virus. Scientists tried to kill Tsugumi over and over again but she managed to survive even the most complete destruction. Just simple decompression isn't going to kill someone with Cure virus.

This one requires Never7 spoilers due to the way the infinity universe works. Cure syndrome basically states that things are the way they are because people believe them to be that way. In this case, Blick Winkel's belief that everything was okay caused everything to be okay, and Blick Winkel's realization that everything was impossible caused everything to paradoxically collapse. Ever17 was made after Never7, you were supposed to understand that before reading Ever17. It is kind of weird if you don't have that information.

I guess I should read Never7 and put an end to this shit. Was anything in Remember11 answered by Never7?

>> No.10456892

>>10456849
Nope. Nothing at all. Unless you count the food question (everybody wanting the same food as the player) and the coffee question (do you like black coffee or with milk?), but those are minor issues barely related to the main plot.

Also, a warning in advance: Never7 isn't nearly as good as Ever17 and Remember11.
