Why don't we ever talk about Sakura Taisen, /jp/? There are translations at

I thought Sakura Taisen was neither of that.

it's like shining blade if you've ever played that

or if not, like a melee version of VC

sega has basically made the same game many times, but nonetheless I for one stil llike it and would be down for a 6th
and more shining

Anyway, wasn't someone working on a translation to these?

I think 4 or 5 or some arbitrary number was translated. From what I've gathered from that one hg101 article, the games are episodic and follow on from each other so this bugs me. For once I wish JAST USA or somewhere would pick this up and release some sort of set that I can pirate.

1 and 2 feature the same casts except a new French girl comes in 2
1 is being translated for PC (I think they died though)
3 and 4 are in France with a new cast other than the French girl if I remember right
5 has an official US release on wii and is about the mc from 1-4's nephew

Neat. Didn't realize that the series had translation guides. Maybe I'll get around to playing them now.

>> No.10388816

The series died a long time ago. I can't even really remember what the games were about anymore since I played them around release.

I want to. But I can't find a god damn download for Sakura Taisen V. All I find are DDL links that require premium accounts. It's not on black-cats or gazellegames either.

It would be great if they did.

I've only played V, and the main story is 1-4.

I imported and played the series when I got a Japanese Dreamcast a decade ago. It's the reason I am here today. It's a pity the series dried up after V, but it's better than being dragged on for far too long.

Best girl is Hanabi, even if she is the only one who wasn't a virgin.

Wasn't there a DS one?

What was the difference?

It was a mystery dungeon game. All the characters were in it, but I don't think it was considered an official sequel, just a thing for fans.

Was it a pain to get Japanese consoles then? I know now you can just hop over to ebay and buy one for $20.

Actually I bought it on ebay for something like $80 with 4 games. It wasn't technically Japanese, it was sold in Asian markets and didn't include a 56k modem like the others. The pink Sakura Taisen model was going for quite a lot more at the time.

The games were cheaper then I think, with the death of the Dreamcast having been relatively recent there weren't many collectors hunting after it. I remember buying the limited edition of Leaf's Comic Party for $30 brand new.
