Brazil is a secular nation. Catholicism is the most adopted religion, but it isn't a state religion. We don't have any right to ship black people to Africa, especially when those black people were actually born here.
The blacks are Catholic too. However, there are various religions which are basically mixes of African tribal traditions and Catholicism which were created by slaves. But they are a minority anyway, do it hardly matters.
Immigration isn't an issue here. Most immigrants are from neighboring countries which are more or less in the same situation as us. We're getting a wave of immigration from Haiti now, but it's not really a problem.

You can't think like this. You're making assumptions you'll never be able to confirm. Also, I'm not sure whose side you're in. This happens in mostly every country. Politicians are corrupt, big businesses exploit the little man, religion only cares about your money, etc. Don't fool yourself into thinking your country is the worst. All countries are equally bad. I'm not sure where I'm going with this /int/ monologue. I guess what I'm trying to convey is that, while the portuguese occupation hurt brazil, it also helped it. I think that a humorous introduction to how shitty this country (BR) is dates to when Portugal decided that one way of getting rid of prisoners or some other shits from there was to send them to the lands of Brazil. We had such a great start.
At least in our story books, there are many occasions when Portugal had to submit to England's dominance. Maybe if PT took properly care of this land here, they could have used its resources to grow even more powerful. But nope! If I remember correctly they also accepted some deals with England that clearly put them into an advantage, and had to keep using Brazil's resources to clear their debts.

The British colonised areas for strategic importance, and people migrated to the colonies to settle and farm. They also massacred most of the populace.

The Portuguese colonised to trade with natives, people immigrated to trade, except in Brasil where they settled to start lives. They were nice to the natives, and intermarried generally.

The Spainish colonised as much as they possibly could for Gold. They didn't give a shit what happened in their colonies, and the only people who immigrated there were people looking for gold or riches.

The Dutch were like little Britain in how they colonised, except that the only people who ever immigrated were farmers.

The French colonised to make their name bigger on the map, and didn't give a fuck about any of their colonies.
