I feel no need for it.
I go out quite often and am driving a cross town every day, still, what kind of a benefit woult a mobile phone has for me?
There is no one to call or to recieve a call from as of yet and I always check where I have to go before I leave, so I wont get lost either.

Their phones have some peculiar features not found on foreign phones, such as radio receivers, TV tuners, digital wallet readers etc that all have corresponding subsystems in Japan that make these extremely useful. People relying on these extras thus become stuck using nip phones. It's called Galapagos syndrome; this problem is affecting many things in Japan... They evolve a system or technology quite differently from the rest of the world and become stuck that way.

And this is not even scratching the surface of many of them being resistant to foreign competing products, because they just assume Japanese ones are always best because yamato damashii bullshit.

Things have changed a lot in only the past couple years though; go to Japan in say 2009-10, and practically no one there used touchscreens, now, they are much much more common, and Sony, Sharp etc are making touchscreen Android phones quite similar to what's found abroad. App stores for inane bullshit + much faster cell networks allowing more things to be done through the internet seem to be providing enough utility to compensate.

Speaking of shopping carts, a few years ago I was fat so when I would lift my weight on the handle to roll with the car, the whole cart would flip up. After being NEET I dropped a bunch of weight and now I ride the shopping carts stay on the ground when I lift my weight on the handles.

That's the best part of not being fat.
