I draw my figures anatomically before I stylize them.

The tiny waist, big hips and tits are a part of the character's design, with other characters those parts arn't as stylized. I started the image over a week ago and I didn't start rendering it until last night.

If anything please criticize my lack of technique which I'm still trying to work on.

Her pelvis is kinda off and the hips are plain ugly, but it's more because once you over-exaggerate that much everything looks off.

However, the anatomy isn't the problem, the problem is ignoring perspective completely, the seeming utter lack of understanding how clothes work in a three-dimensional space, and the shitty composition.

It seems like you drew a pose at random, covered it in clothes, and then rendered it without much regard for sketching and adjusting each step to look right before committing to it. But there's not much to be said to help you improve that, other than that you should really work out how clothes work.

Also, a note on anatomy, please always ignore everything /jp/ says about anatomy, there's a couple people here who I think read a couple deviantArt tutorials or took a single entry level figure drawing class and think the single set of "realistic" proportions they learned as a basic shortcut are the end-all be-all of human anatomy. They're not, and they don't even come close to representing the range of actual real human beings, not to mention stylized drawings we're dealing with here.

The folds of the long coat and collar are bunches of random scribbles. Seemingly simple things like that need to have a logic and form to them.

The edge of the skirt composed of two straight lines in front and back makes no fucking sense at all. (Also, the back side of an even-length skirt wouldn't be visible from the front because it would drape over the buttocks and thus appear longer in the front, but lets ignore it, maybe it's supposed to be cut that way, who knows).

And I won't even start on the small bits of cloth hanging of the boobs because they're silly bad.

Again, that's not a problem.

First of all, thighs aren't round, they're deeper than they're wide, and if you look at a person from the side, they can be very well thicker than the torso on a fit person.

With a 3/4 view combined with exaggerated proportions making thighs more meaty and the waist slimmer, they're not a problem here.

Well, other than being generally shapeless and unappealing, but that's a personal opinion.

Thank you for your criticism. For one, I really struggled to make sure that the clothing was sexy in a really regal kind of way. The impossible cling and tinyness of all the clothes is really crazy but I wanted to go wild with it.

From the get go that her shape is extremely exaggerated. I wanted to emphasize the sexuality of the character, so bigger thighs, boobs, hips, etc. Compared to other characters of the game, she's very unrealistic body-wise but because the kind of character she is. As a queen she represents a sexual culture of the elves and so when the player first encounters her she has to embody everything about her society in an idealized shape. I always start with skeletals and shaping the anatomy before I exaggerate it, so there's method to my craziness in making her look this way.

Again, thanks for the criticism, belief it or not I really appreciate stuff like this.

These are the problems I see, in terms of how you have the ribcage/torso protruding outwards impossibly, the stylized thighs arent too much of a problem, except for that one spot they bulge out at too far.
Either your arms are off, or your torso is facing the wrong direction in regards to the rest of the body, or a combination of various things. I hope this sheds some light on what the people in the thread are trying to say.

I honestly didnt mean to cause a problem in the thread, and I wasnt intending for my redline to "fix the mistakes", rather, I was going by what was already drawn and showing why the parts looked weird. I wasnt redrawing, realigning, or anything of the sort. I picked a point on the picture, and drew from there based on the image itself to show what was happening with the anatomy, with arrows pointing where the major issues were happening in each case.

My attempt to redline it I have kept most of the proportions and intended form and pose but corrected the sloppy bits.

Things that stand out
*boobs are all over the place, they do not hang off her body evenly.

*crotch is too flat. her pussy should be defined more to show depth. This is done by the angles of her body and the way the skirt hangs. her crotch V would not show the tip since the fabric would hang away from it due to her thighs.

* armpit cleavage has a jarring change of direction.

* boob vest hangs wrong. Is it a bra is it tit formed? if it is just tight it wont hang this way. I drew it as a fitted object. I would instead give her a small corset with some sort of lacy detail, maybe a collar that is made of gold or metal links that would hang over her massive tits. Too much opportunity here to cover it up like this.

* frills at neck are all over does not appear to be shaped to hang around her neck. Looks like a bit of something shooped on from another image. Is it a collar or is it a lapel accessory?

* cape sleeves are ???!, I cannot figure out how this works as a piece of clothing. If the sleeves are in the cape the right side would not appear as drawn. If the sleeves are part of some other clothing the cape should drape over, sleeve on right arm is missing the inside. left sleeve is all bunchy and clumpy. Try to collect folds in the joints of the arm.

These are all SMALL NITS but they show more due to the quality that is present elsewhere.

If you do not already do it, I would think the clothing out and work out the details in multiple drawings prior to the final work. Character design sheets etc. For my OC I will have multiple pages of work detailing various bits showing what is or will never bee seen so that those things are considered when drawing things.

The cape has been detailed out quite a bit, it was the strongest element as I went through the image and redesigned the character from over a month ago. However you're right that the inner clothing is sloppy and it's something I planned to fix. The frill is a a collar and wraps around her neck. Your redline more emphasizes what I was trying to do with it.

Anyway, thanks for the crits and I'll be making some changes in the next few days to fix her clothes.

The only thing that's glaring is the size of her upper torso and lower torso. They should be slightly longer. It somewhat reminds me of Mizuryu Kei's artwork from a year or two ago, where the characters look like dwarves with long legs:

Play around with that area of your anatomy a little bit more. Otherwise you're really good, because this is the only large issue that "stands out" with your characters at first glace. Only an expert (like the person above) would notice the other details.

Hey guys, I literally have not drawn anything for 6 or 7 years now, and even when I did draw, it was more sketching and painting on canvas. I finally have a 2 month break to do something creative stuff. I want to get a drawing tablet and see how it goes. Is the wacom bamboo series fine? I was thinking of getting the manga one to share with my imouto.

Also, I assume everyone is self taught, but any resources to get started on? Since I don't have too much time, is there a way to improve quickly in a quick amount of time? I really want to draw touhous doing cute things.

Also, what kind of software is nice? Painttool SAI?
