I'm 31. I played LoZ on a real NES back in the day (which I guess is an accomplishment now).
I liked The Adventures of Link more, though they were both great games.

I only played Link's Awakening and the Oracle games on an emulator many years later, but they were fun. They were very "old Zelda". The 3D games were terrible but I seem to be the only person who thinks this, so whatever.

Ocarina of Time was fantastic and is my favorite game in general. A Link to the Past is a close runner-up.

Maybe you should try playing them again, or at least OoT. It's not only a good Zelda game, it's also regarded as one of the best games of all time.

Can't disagree with this though. I had so much trouble with horseback archery as a kid and then got it the first time on the 3DS. I think the gyro made it too easy, even.

No way, man. I played it again fairly recently after seeing my little cousin get the 3DS version and it's still really good. The flow of the game and sheer size of it still baffles me. I'm working Twilight Princess again right now and though it's good, it doesn't feel as majestic despite the larger world and better graphics. OoT has a good balance between linear gameplay and exploration incentives, much like ALttP. I also like the music a bit more.

I think the main thing I don't like about newer Zelda games is that the dungeons feel really... overdesigned. I don't know if that's the right word for for what I'm trying to get across, but...

I just remember getting to the main room of the Wind Temple in Wind Waker, taking one look at how gigantic and overcomplicated it looked and basically saying fuck this and turn the GameCube off.

Controls for the Wii are beyond annoying. The boss battles are cool, but were too easy. I like the sidequests, but wish there were more. Best things for me include music and atmosphere. The whole game feels too easy and linear ("overdesigned" maybe as another anon mentioned). I feel like I'm following a checklist rather than playing a game. Regardless, it's enjoyable.

I played a bit of Skyward Sword at my little cousin's house. That awkward casual-motion bullshit in makes it almost unplayable. The only saving grace of that game seems to be Zelda's character personality.
