>> No.10325491

>>10325460

You're taking it too seriously. It's just supposed to be a story you think of in your head in order to help you either recognize, or write it. "That poor child ーSHE has lived a total of one year!" If you write 了 + 一 it = 子, that's the story. I don't know why you're associating it with anything outside of the kanji themself.

Also knowing the reading isn't really important because you will come to know them from doing vocab. This is why RTK tells you to think of your own stories that you feel comfortable with.

This is how I deal with different readings.

1. look at readings
2. find a common word using each reading
4. Stick those words on reverse/answer side of the kanji card and practice them
3. If the words for said reading are uncommon, don't bother until come across it one day and stick it into my separate vocab deck aside from the main kanji deck.

Boogie board is actually pretty useful, saves on paper/ink. and means you dont have thousands of pages of kanji lying around.

The only downside of it, is that if you wanted practice writing long sentences you probably don't have the room unless you shrank your handwriting font down considerably.

you can't trust someone to teach who doesn't even actually know what he's talking about. either way it is relevant because writing without the proper stroke order is awkward and slow.

sounds like you've never had to look up a kanji you don't know the proper way.

stroke order does matter. When Rikai-chan fails you and simply coping the thing from AGTH to a firefox text window fails, and you have to use the windows IME kanji finder, you will need to know the proper writing order.

even though the hypothetical situation where you would do that doesn't exist, it still helps to know how to write properly.

I recommend focusing on grammar now. Then, do 2000~2500 kanji with either Kanji Damage or RTK, your choice (I prefer RTK, but I'm too far on KD to go back). Then, go with the vocab decks. Also, maintaining a constant contact with the japanese language will help you a lot.

That's right. In the end, you don't have to do it exactly in the same order, but it must flow in the same direction. It's recommended for comprehension purposes though, later on. Usually I can only read fuck ugly handwriting in images just because there is a semblance of stroke order.

this isn't really related to what you're talking about anyway, you're talking about inferring the meaning of words you don't know. how does that relate to not being able to express the nuance behind specific words which you already know/understand?

i don't think the former is a particularly good indicator of someones skill in a language anyway, because i'm able to do this with japanese in certain situations & my japanese is pretty shit.
