Are there any original ZUN touhou tracks that you think haven't been topped by a remix/arrange?

>> No.10310958

Personally I think nothing will top EoSD's Stage 1 boss theme.

There's a bunch of metal covers, but metal is missing the point of that track in the biggest way possible, if you ask me.

>> No.10310988

None that I can think of. Most of ZUN's compositions are enjoyable and pleasant for a first listen, and very fitting for the games they belong in, but arrangements are there to make them better and more interesting with an appeal to listen to outside of the games.

There's just some form of majesticness in those trumpet sections which trump fan arrangements.

I haven't heard any Futatsuiwa from Sado remixes I like.

>> No.10311243

Most of the PC-98 tracks. There's something about that sound, man.

Maybe "U.N. Owen was Her?"
It's so popular yet I have never found any remix or arrange that surpasses the original. It's like a pop song that gets a lot of covers but they never top the artist/sound/charm of the first recording.

>> No.10311253

I think Border of Life and Ultimate Truth hold up pretty well. Then again Ultimate Truth is my favorite ZUN song, so I might be slightly biased.

I haven't heard a remix that captures the feeling of The Gensokyo the Gods Loved as well as the original. Same with Necrofantasia.

For me, Last Remote, the SA Extra Stage theme. I've never heard an arrange that really captured the same melancholy beauty it has.

There was this project one guy made. He had 100 people who didn't know about Touhou listen to all music tracks (I think this was before SA release) and rate them. This one ranked 1st place.

I don't think I have heard arranges of Eternal Shrine Maiden and Sleeping Terror which I like more than the originals. I did think the same thing about Complete Darkness but then I heard Takase arrange of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjo225H4adM.. I love the few extra synths he threw in there, without them the original sounds like it's missing a part of it.

To be honest his metal arranges of Eternal Shrine Maiden and Sleeping Terror were also excellent, but not as good as the original (only just though). This album has the arranges of Complete Darkness and Eternal Shrine Maiden and it's excellent.
