Does anyone else get that feeling where they absolutely hate to the core when anyone talks about their 2hu of adornment or brings up that she's "popular"?

Is that why people post saying they hate a character or that she is shit? Is it some subversive mind-manipulation technique when in actuality the person loves her and is in dire fear of others loving her?

I'm not 100% sure what you're asking, but I think I understand. I think it's the other way around though. People say they are shit because they hate that other people love them more than their favorite Touhou.

I get neither of those reasonings, personally I don't like talking about some of my absolute favorite characters because I am terrified someone will say something mean, or degrading, or make sexual comments about them or post porn of them. Because when those things happen I am sure to get an anxiety attack and I might have to leave /jp/ for some time.

So if one of those characters get more popular, I get really mixed feelings. Happy feelings because that means more material with them, but also worry because this means it will be harder to avoid anxiety attacks. I wouldn't go as far to say I hate them though, to make them appear less popular. More like I would avoid even talking about them at all, even more than before.

I understand your reasoning and I too, hate defilement of my beloved which I will not mention for said fear of turning the thread and subsequent defilement of her.

However, what I feel that some of you might not is jealousy or hatred towards others who love her because I am in dire fear of them somehow stealing her love away from me or damaging the bond I have with her in my mind.

Thus, I am always on edge and using the force of my mind to prevent others' minds from focusing on her and corrupting her or gaining power from her by focusing on her.

I am the exact opposite of you. When I talk to people that share the same 2d love interest as me, it makes me feel closer to the character in question. And I have several people that I do this with on occasion and privately. Sometimes, it happens on /jp/ as well. However that doesn't mean I am without the same fear you have that people will try to steer the discussion into defiling or corrupting her image. But sometimes you have to just filter out those sort of hateful things and ignore them, because deep down you should know that most of it isn't true.
