Saved WHAT money exactly?

Even if I saved every little bit of money I ever had in my life up to this point, it wouldn't amount to much more than two or three thousand dollars.

>Farming is hard. And unprofitable.

This. A year ago I spent some time seriously investigating whether it would be viable to be a farmer -- the answer was absolutely not.

Considered as a small business, the capital investment is high, the return is low, and more farms lose money than manage to break even or turn a profit. The only use of having a small "farm" is to receive a lower property tax rate for your land: actually trying to support yourself this way does not make sense.

Good luck finding some land you can afford with a decent internet connection, or even a power connection.

If you have the means to buy a one million dollar farm, you don't need it.

Farmers here get massive government subsidies, tax breaks, all kinds of support just so they all don't starve to death.

If you have a ton of land, sure, you can make good profit if you're smart and lucky, but for an average farmer it's all hard work and no profit.
