Blizzard does really well with enhancing their games to use newer technologies, but I get the feeling he's just talking about making a game that has the highest spec requirements possible. For some reason, a lot of people (at least in the US) directly associate run requirements with overall game quality.

Actually they just said they didn't want people to think the japanese industry was getting weaker, they didn't say anything about wanting to actually BE like Bethesda, since all Bethesda does is make games with more glitches than actual gameplay.

I finally got back my copy of Xenoblade from my brother and started playing it again. Really one of the most under appreciated games of the year. Kind of weird and sad to see western RPGs overtake JRPGs.

The feeling I got from playing a video game used to be completely different from the feeling I got from watching a hollywood movie. Now video games constantly try their very best to please teenage normals, instead of letting the creators do what they actually want. It makes me want to puke.

Then again, that might not be a bad thing, at least not if you trust comrade Kalashnikov's wise words about having a good understanding of everything created prior to creating something new. The Japanese game industry never made much that resembled mid-late 90's WRPGs, but some modern JRPGs are rather like early 3d sandbox games. It might be a good place to start to get a grip.
