What's your single favorite piece of Touhou music? The ZUN-made variety. Remixes and arrangements can be gorgeous, but I'd rather discuss the vanilla flavors, so to speak.

No beating around the bush, none of that "but I can't choose a favorite!" malarky.

I've died to this song an infinite number of times, and it's just the most memorable stage 6 boss to me because of the big ol' suns in every card. The music feels properly dramatic for it.

Favorite boss: Suwa Foughten Field. Hyper start, keeps the pace. Very fitting for a final theme.
Favorite stage: Voyager 1969. It feels so immersive that I feel like I'm in fucking space.

Oh, goodness, narrowing down the favorites is hard.
Stage theme favorites are definitely Heartfelt Fancy and Desire Drive, with a close honorable mention from Fires of Houkai.
Heartfelt Fancy alone made me fall in love with SA. Strangely bouncy, yet sounds elegant, like snow falling next to a very upbeat ball or something.
Desire Drive is just so... entrancing. It catches you up in its adventurous pace, and just sounds fun.
Fires of Houkai sounds really emotional to me, and when its coupled with lines of fairies who have formed a final phalanx of defense for Byakuren, it's really kind of touching.
I don't know if I would say it's my favorite boss theme, but True Administrator has convinced me it's the most epic boss theme to date. That pacing, that timing, that drive... It's just too goddamn epic, even if Miko is relatively easy compared to other bosses. It always makes me smile and feel like I'm actually have a grand final confrontation.
Lastly, any song related to Alice and Poison Body earn my attention for sounding so much darker than ZUN's typical works. I love the sense of dread built with their tones.

I was sour on most of Ten Desire's music at first but it definitely grew on me. Desire Drive's ticking drums give it a real race feeling. True Administrator definitely has a final confrontation vibe to it and matches the name.

Heartfelt Fancy is pretty energetic while being elegant, truly. I think it works best as a lead up to Third Eye, which has a really nice "Mastermind" vibe to it, letting them stand together as search and discovery, crescendo and climax.

I can't think of Alice songs as anything somber anymore thanks to her themes in the fighting games.

Repetitive is good. Most of Zun's music is very repetitive for a reason, it gets a catchy melody that hangs in there. It reminds me a lot of the old style of Video Game music, thinking NES or, well, PC98 era. There weren't epic scores, there were catchy pieces.

Iku's theme is simply one of ZUN's finest works. The exciting electric guitar punctuated with the elegant piano, the beautiful horn solos, the general rhythm makes it an absolute pleasure to listen to. It makes me regret not enjoying her gameplay in UNL, honestly. She's such a cool character

Fans of HRtP should be quite familiar with this song. Such a cool and charming beat made the Hell route quite fun. It also marks one of the few songs that I much prefer the original rendition of to the remix on Akyu's Untouched Score. That one's pretty good, but a little more upbeat and cheery sounding, and I like the somber melody of the original more

I've always really liked Apparitions Stalk the Night and Shanghai Teahouse ~ Chinese Tea. EoSD has such an odd GST that's so densely packed and scrambled. It's very different from everything else PCB an onward. UFO is priobably the closest since then.

I also really dig Eternal Shrine Maiden (AUS v.5 version), Magic Mirror, Stirring an Autumn Moon ~ Mooned Insect, Kid's Festival ~ Innocent Treasures, Flowering Night, Sleepless Night of the Eastern Country, Native Faith, The Bridge People No Longer Cross, Interdimensional Voyage of a Ghostly Passenger Ship, A Midnight Fairy Dance, and Necrofantasia (Magical Astronomy version). I need to revisit non-HRtP OSTs more often sp I can play favorites with them. Shame TD is kinda boring.
