When was the last time you tried to draw? You need to do it everyday to get good at it.

>> No.10164940

I don't even know where to start but it'd be fun to learn. I'd probably get bored after a week like every other thing I try though.

>> No.10164960

I bought a tablet, drawing manuals, pencils and whatever shit. Even so, I probably spent less than a single hour in the past 15 years on actually trying to learn to draw.

I was drawing like a motherfucker for a long time. From life, from fantasy, different subjects and different techniques using many books and my own intuition. I never got that good.

I'm getting out of this bydlotown soon enough, so I'll join some illustration courses then.

can someone recommend me a somewhat inexpensive but good tablet? I think I would actually start drawing if I could do it on the computer between F5s.

Half a year ago. I drew a few lolis and a dragon, then gave up.

>> No.10165482

I draw something everyday.

However, I draw the things I actually need to draw to improve at a decent pace maybe once a week.

It's still progress after abandoning it completely for four years.

Find an used Wacom.

Just get one that's A5 or bigger - getting used to a smaller drawing surface is actually going to hinder your progress.

Also, nothing stops you from putting a pad of paper and a pencil next to your keyboard, you know.

I stopped drawing when I was a kid. I have absolutely no interest in it now.

the main problem with pencil and paper for me is that I erase a lot and it just looks like shit and/or is incredibly annoying. plus i would waste a lot of paper doing that, i tried it before.

thanks for the recommendation

>> No.10165506

I tried drawing it something like 2 months ago, and I actually enjoyed making it and made a really good drawing for my first attempt. But my attention span and ability to focus on one hobby is terrible. That, and I just have a really difficult time thinking about what I even want to draw or how to even draw it. How can I get myself to just pick up the damn pen and do something?

Buy printer paper and wasting paper stops being an issue, it's cheap as fuck.

Also, line confidence is extremely crucial, you need to learn to stop relying on erasing every mistake when sketching - if you get a tablet and keep ctrl+z'ing all the time it will seriously stunt your progress.

I stopped once I realized it was a waste of time. Unless you have talent in a certain area anything is a waste of time.

My drawing time turned into internet time, which also turned out to be a waste of time usually.

>> No.10165694

>>10165648
Talent doesn't exist... This is just what people who haven't tried hard enough say to not feel bad about themselves. If you put 50 hours a week on drawing you will be extremely good in 5 years. That goes for everybody, except people with severe retardation.

Most things do require a specific mindset to do well and it is certainly possible for someone to simply be unable to think in the required way. It's not some magical inexplicable thing like most people imply and there is definitely a limit to how much it actually affects things, but it certainly exists.

I have a pen and 300 sheets of paper, how do I start learning effectively?

I've never drawn in my life, all I used to do was draw lines and squiggles in the margins of schoolbooks.

I was thinking about starting by drawing hands over and over and over, all holding various objects and using minimum reference.

The sheets are A4 though, so if I have it in portrait style I figure I should be aiming to fill the page with 4-6 pairs of hands holding cups, balls, gamepads, arcade sticks, maybe even a cock for a laugh.

Is it genius?

In every study I've seen about this it has always turned out that these so called "talented" people either started very early or spent more time then their peers doing their "talent". The reason some people are further ahead without any previous practice is probably from earlier life experience. Things like that wont make any difference after roughly 10000 hours.

>>10165717
That's simply not true. Everybody can think with their right brain. It's just a matter of practice and being relaxed.
