I've been trying to play Western games recently, but I just can't. God, I must be a weeaboo or something, these games are making me gag. Fuck Borderlands, fuck Just Cause, I can't even play Half-Life 2. Skyrim, Batman and Portal were all right though, and so was BioShock, but to a lesser extent.

Am I gonna be playing JRPGS for the rest of my life...

>> No.10147716

Most major titles are absolute garbage. From your list, Borderlands and Skyrim were complete shit, HL2 and Portal were okay, the recent Batman games were fun, and I honestly know nothing about Just Cause.

>> No.10147727

>>10147716
I only liked Skyrim because it looked pretty, honestly. Didn't do much other than walk around and enjoy the scenery, and spawn cheese wheels.

I am not much of a gamer, and I thought if these titles were so popular, they must be great.

>> No.10147736

That is understandable because in movies or TV shows you often get that sort of relationship, but with video games there is generally no correlation between popularity and quality.

Of course, but isometric RPGs are really hard to get into if you're a casual gamer, which it seems he is. I recommended Morrowind because it's basically an older Skyrim, with almost the same interface/gaemplay.

Not much to go on. i'll just list some of my favorites from the west for PC.

Deus Ex Human revolution is pretty cool. Some probably will yell at you that you need to play the first but tbh it not age very well.

Bastion is very good if you like hack n slash rpg's.

Vampire the masquerade: Bloodlines is a classic worth checking out.

The longest Journey is a classic if you like point and click adventure games.

Psychonauts is great if you like action platforming with a great sense of humor.

I have been playing the first Deus Ex recently. I recognize it's "good," but I can't really get into it. The pathways meander too much and I have to spend like an hour trying to find everything in even tiny areas. I haven't really heard of the rest, but I'll check them out, thanks.

Excellent tastes. If I may add my two cents, Stalker and Metro 2033 are also highly recommended FPS (Stalker can be confusing at first sight for a casual though); Jade Empire and System Shock 2 are great RPGs too. Alice Madness Returns was an excellent and funny platformer as well. If you like RTS, Rise of Nations and Homeworld were nice.

I loved this game. Surprised I forgot about it. I find Alice to be very charming and the hair physics were wonderful, so I probably would have played it through gladly even if it was shit. Though on the subject of platformers, I hear Mirror's Edge, I believe was the name, was a pretty good one.

50% spell absorption would be nice, but melee enemies are more common than casters.
