Lets discuss visual novels, otaku culture-related games (Project Diva, Idolmaster) and Doujin tittles for the Vita, PSP, DS and anything else.

>> No.10122847

How is Project DIVA? I'm a little put off by rhythm games that use a standard controller. How does it work? Could I get away with very rudimentary Japanese knowledge?

Project DIVA is a lot of fun. It takes a bit of getting used to as far as the controls. And no you don't really need to know Japanese.

Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward is great, probably my favorite game of the year. I got the platinum trophy on the Vita version and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a worthy successor to 999 and surpassed it in some ways. It's even dual audio.

Stop doing that shit if you don't want your threads to constantly be harassed and deleted. You're seriously retarded. If you really want to discuss JRPG and JRPG-like games you should go to their /vg/ general threads. They're surprisingly pleasant, civil and free from /v/-like people.

Pretty sure Europe is getting all of the same releases as North America. Some games are even released there before North America because Nintendo is weird.

Played that already, one of the few good ones in my opinion. I don't know, console gaming feels so tiring to me now while handhelds are so much more relaxing. It doesn't help that my monitor has no HDMI so every time I want to play, I'd have to unplug my computer DVI cable and plug the PS3 one in. Same with the audio.

The Japanese 3DS is the smartest choice, but if you can't understand Japanese, and are choosing between an American 3DS and European one, get an American one.

An American 3DS will run you 149.99 dollars, assuming you buy it at regular price, and don't find it on sale or anything. A European one will run you around 200 dollars + taxes.

Now, I have no idea what kind of fees you have for importing things, or what shipping will cost, but even if you import an American 3DS, I can't imagine it would end up being more expensive than buying a European 3DS domestically.

Games as well, will be a bit cheaper, because of the exchange rate, so it shouldn't be any more expensive to import games either.

So if they're both going to end up costing you the same, you should just go with the model that has the better library/faster localisations (on average). You can feel free to do your own research though, as it's not like I really looked much into it.

>> No.10130619

>>10129688
Buying locally versus importing with customs comes roughly to the same cost for the console, maybe a little less for the games but that would include a trip to the customs office which isn't optimal. I think that prices are going to drop a little bit after the current black friday deals. They're actually dropping the 3DS down to 119 or 129 soon but I want to get an XL anyway.

>> No.10130634

which site do you use for importing things like the 3ds anyways? I know yes-asia has free shipping but I'm not sure they aren't overpricing things to make up for it

>> No.10130643

I'd just buy it off ebay I think. Most American shops don't have international shipping or you need a credit card for it.

I just ordered a Vita (150€) with P4G by the way. I'm going to play the hell out of it and when I'm done, I might sell both for more. Or I'll keep it, depending on if there are any news regarding localizations or I get off my ass and start learning Japanese.

Maybe the game has an option for it then or something. Most games don't though. I know my copies of games like Bravely Default, New Love Plus, Fire Emblem, etc don't have furigana for everything like that.
