Guize I think I broke Einstein's theory of relativity

What happens if I have one fuckhuge spaceship traveling at the speed of light and inside it we have a smaller spaceship traveling at 1 mph. Did the smaller spaceship just surpass the speed of light?

v+u/(1+v*u/c2)
Go away.

Sorry bro.
Thats not how relativistic speeds work.

That's like saying, 'I'm in the back of a truck going 100 km/h and I run from the back of the trailer to the front at 5 km/h, so I'm traveling faster than the truck'.

No, you aren't. Also, you failed highschool physics. Fuckwit.

Something so this thread contains SOMETHING of worth.

Indeed. It is measured by individual speed.

Frop PoV of someone outside the truck, yes, you are traveling faster than truck.
It seems to be you who failed HS physics.

>> No.10059125

Even if the second spaceship was indeed traveling faster than the speed of light, you wouldn't be able to observe it, since the photons would only be reaching you at the speed of light.

What are you trying to prove OP, you haven't broken anything.

We're not talking about PoV. We're talking about physics.

By that logic, Cirno is the strongest because she is from the PoV of her fans.

You can't discuss the theory of relativity without talking about an observer's point of view. That's why it's relative, you know.

Lol if I add 1 to infinity it would be larger than infinity so infinity is not the largest number xD

>> No.10059144

Reference frames are jew bullshit.

>> No.10059141

But wouldn't you be traveling faster than the speed of light to a 3rd stationary observer outside of both spaceships?

>> No.10059147

>>10059135
>>10059136

Yes. But to say that it is faster because it appears to be, even though you know that it is incorrect, is idiocy.

>> No.10059151

You shouldn't ask /jp/, we're all high school drop-outs here.

>> No.10059156

Speed is relative to an observer. If you can't agree on that, I really don't know how we can progress on this thread.

>> No.10059159

xkcd taught me yesterday that nothing made of matter can go at the speed of light anyway so you're stupid

>> No.10059166

>>10059147
Speed is always measured against point of reference. Speed of truck is measured against road.
Speed of person is measured against truck.

So speed of person against road is truck speed + person speed.

I think I'm getting trolled here.

Scientists already beat you to in. They had a photon move at the speed of light and put a smaller particle moving on top of it. Nothing of note happened, however.

Samefag troll detected. 1/10, do try harder.

Speed of person is measured against truck, but speed of person =/= truck speed + person speed. Speed of person = speed of person.

Unless you are going to argue that an airline hostess walking through a cabin is walking at over 1000 km/h.

More troll physics, please.
