i liked it since the h-scenes were hot, but it felt like a moege filler route. we've all read those routes, where all the serious parts are jammed into the last 10% of the route because the rest of the route is for h-scenes and cute moege moments. but yeah, kita's route was pretty bland.

i didnt feel like going out of my way to finish the game since i was never really invested in the weird isekai plot even in the common, and i didnt trust the game to do anything interesting with it after reading that route.

>> No.46811074

I was always fuzzy on how much drama is too much to be considered a moege. I guess if the Kiminozo special fan disc counts; that's my first moege. Like half of it is technically a bakage though.

i'll keep it short but the worst of it was the MC, complete lack of chemistry and amane was doing 99% of the heavy lifting. she was trying real hard to make it work and he was dead fucking weight. the fantasy stuff was dead boring and took up too much space. they didn't do anything with the ED part, his first nut is indistinguishable from any other generic scene.

i've seen the criticism of "vanilla" thrown at stuff like yuzusoft but vanilla is a flavor and a tasty one. i would argue yuzusoft is the plain unflavored yogurt of vns

oh fair enough
as the other anon mentioned, i think it's hard to find the balance in a moege. for example, if tenshi had focused too much on the setting, i guess it would have moved too far away from the yuzusoft label
the problem with the protagonist is the same, it's not that they can give him a personality too accentuated, since the idea in these games is to prioritize the self-insertion
yuzusoft is at a point where it has already found its stable fan base, so it's a bit difficult to take risks and try to innovate

Finished reading all the routes I was interested in in Lovepical Poppy (Miu, Nozomi, Tamaki).
For a smeege, this one plays it pretty safe and has less of the insane off the walls comedy you'd normally expect, the only scene I can think of that really had it is the DJ Tamaki scene. That said, the girls are very cute and they still do the cutesy romance bits well, so it's a pretty decent moege overall. H-scenes were unusually weak, even for a smeege. Tamaki's route was excellent with a kind of bland ending, Miu's route was decent with a pretty good ending, Nozomi's route was a bunch of food scenes and sex scenes until the last chapter where she gets pregnant. And that's resolved with literally one conversation with her mom and then the route ends. Definitely not the best smeege, or the best moege, but still perfectly acceptable and perfectly enjoyable. I'd describe it as the kind of VN I enjoyed reading well enough but will probably remember absolutely nothing about in two years. Read it if you need a constant supply of moege to keep yourself from going postal and you're running low on supply. This is the cheap crack that still gets you high.
The people on EGS rating this higher than TSR are nuts.

Also finished Ijiboku. As an 'ntr'-ge, it's pretty terrible, the ntr is handled very poorly, they barely develop the relationship and she craves cock with heart pupils from second one, you have to build up to that stuff or the ntr has no impact. However, the h-scenes are shockingly high budget for a dojin game and often have 2-3 CGs per scene. If you want some decent faps to a girl buhii-ing over shota cocks download it and download a save and pick the h-scenes in the recollection menu that look good to you, don't bother with anything else. It's a nukige that has great h-scenes and meh everything else. With a couple tweaks and some better non h-scene writing they could have something great here, I'll definitely read their next work.

Read the trial out of curiosity and didn't expect it to be a plotge. Seems like the MC kind of brainwashed himself to pass the infiltrate the academy, steal a bride, and make friends. Then he proceeded to unbrainwash himself, brainwash his bride, and kill the country's heroes out of revenge. I guess having the MC voiced is to distinguish clearly between his good self and his revenge-driven self. Well, he will end up being good anyway.
The OST doesn't feel like it will be good enough to hype the fights. The writer said the route order is locked and getting edgier with each route. Wasn't planning on reading it, but the end of the trial was intriguing enough for me to read the whole thing. And it gets my bonus for being a dark fantasy VN. Oh, and once again, best girls are routelets.

Long answer: only nukislop is like that, general eroge tend to have romantic plots and porn scenes are just an element to make the romance more effective, which is what makes the medium unique. If only the porn mattered, there would be no console versions and ctrl-bros like >>46815273

I just finished playing Triad Lilytear. I went in expecting just another nukige, but quickly got hooked on the story and loveable characters. The story wasn't afraid to get serious (and fucking brutal), but never forgot its absurd premise and kept its sense of humor close.

More than anything I just loved how the main characters interacted with each other. Got the jaded mahou shoujo who's sick of and has PTSD from all the nukige bullshit, the dont-think-imasine autistic hopes and dreams mahou shoujo, and the loser coomer hag mahou shoujo. I love how they bounce off each other, and they actually grow and change each other and by the end of it I could even cry over them.

I haven't played the previous games in the series yet, but I plan to now. I'd still say that this title is perfectly enjoyable as a standalone work as well, though. First time actually posting in this thread but I'm in that post-read high and had to gush about it T.T

Also damn it was fappable, I know I'm weak to magical girls but got some serious mileage out of this game, it just kept on giving.

With fiction, there is always a divide between the characters and real life humans. There is always the knowledge that they don't exist in reality, mere figments of some writer's imagination to fulfill their purpose in the story.

But what if there was a work where each and every character breathes the same air as us. Where you could feel the warmth of their smile, the emotion packed into their laughter and tears, their ambitions for the future and the depth of their despair. Just like your friends, and family, and anyone else deeply close to you.

With Triad Lilytear, this has finally been achieved. You can hear the spark in Airi's voice as she raves about her favourite anime. You can see the thousands of hours of practice behind Luna's smile in front of the camera, you can feel the skip in Touka's heartbeat as she clutches Kokoha's hand. They feel real, vivid, present, alive.

Real people cannot be defined by tropes, by archetypes or vndb character traits. We are inconsistent and irrational and chaotic, and most importantly of all we are infinitely more complex. We have feelings and thoughts at every waking moment for decades, about every fleeting second, both deliberately and subconsciously. To capture this depth of emotion in the constraints of a fictional story might seem like a Herculean task.

Many great writers of history have strived to draw close to this goal. And indeed, Sitou's deeply emotional prose strikes deep into the heart of the characters' innermost thoughts, manifesting the raw complexity of a human being in every word choice, every descriptive phrase, every subtle use of punctuation in every piece of dialogue. And this is reinforced with the power of the visual novel medium - the subtle changes in posing and expression in the sprites, the artistic composition of the CGs, the carefully crafted emotion of the soundtrack, and of course the intense performance of the voice actors.

Any of us will know the feeling of struggling with interpersonal relationships, of desperately worrying about our friends or loved ones. But with Triad Lilytear, one can taste the experience of lying awake at night, imagining Luna awkwardly attempt to start up a conversation with her fellow actresses, of Airi giving her childish yet passionate words of encouragement. Of Kokoha with light tears in her eyes as she tastes the warm flavour of Touka's handmade cooking, of Touka smiling softly as she strokes Kokoha's hair on her lap.

And yet despite the sheer visceral realism of this imagery, this is not a work bound within the chains of reality. So we have a grand setting of the birth of intelligent empathetic life, of interstellar war for domination of the galaxy. And these so real, so sympathetic characters, who want nothing more than to live a comfortable and happy life like anyone else, have the future of the space-time continuum in their hands. And they are forced to face the final question - is humanity truly worth saving?

Make no mistake, the enemy here is not Lucifer the Prince of Darkness, it is not an inherently evil force beyond our understanding. It is simply the innermost desires in any human heart, that of power, revenge, greed and lust. Any normal person, who would otherwise lead a productive, positive life, is capable of the darkest atrocities when in the wrong place at the wrong time. Humanity has seen this time and again, with countless genocides and slaughters, famine and rape, discrimination and hatred. And we see it yet again in Triad Lilytear, the sheer capacity for atrocity in any person.

There is and will always be hope. We strive for peace and harmony, and we dream of a world where Touka wakes up in the morning and her first thoughts (after how pretty Kokoha's sleeping face is) is nothing but what to make for breakfast, what classes she has today at uni, where they could go for a date in their next day off. Where adults can be trusted to keep society relatively safe, relatively stable, and relatively free, and her small group of friends can leave the Earth to them and live their little lives in the little world around them.

How would one define a normal life? Is not every person unique, every relationship special in its own way? Surely there can be no substitute for the memories you've built with someone, for the way you act when around them and the feeling of warmth in their presence. In that sense, even without magical battles and existential threats and pure, brilliant heroism, their lives are of immeasurable value and meaning, and it is an honour to have been here to witness it.

Why do VNs get people to write these pretentious ass reviews where they act like they just read some profound philosophical work? People don't even analyze actual literature this deeply. >> No.46817948

>>46817843
Clearly you have never read a 100k japanese review. Different people have different ways of approaching or enjoying a work, so there are groups that tend to gravitate towards one genre or another. "Themes” are literally the basis of any story. The first step when you write something is to decide what you are going to write about: that's when you decide on the “themes” that will be the skeleton that will give your story a framework. The more you are exposed to different types of fiction, the more easily you will be able to identify certain patterns that repeat from one work to another; because yes, it is quite common for one author to influence another

For example, when there's a party, you know he's going to spend at least one page describing anna's or kitty's dress, and there's also a fairly frequent use of extreme emotionality to express the mood or interactions between characters. I agree with you on all points, but a review published for everyone to see needs to approach the work at least somewhat objectively.
Reviews aren't a competition to see who can wax the most poetic or whose prose is the most vivid shade of purple. Their purpose is to help the reader decide whether what's being reviewed is worth their time and money.
Talking about the value of the work in the greater context of an artistic canon or society, or using it as a jumping-off point to discuss some larger topic is fine, but if you don't first give the reader a foundational understanding of what the work is and its merits, you aren't writing a review. You're just rambling about your feelings.
If you feel the urge to do that, by all means do, but the review section is not the forum for it. Start a blog or a podcast or even a diary instead.

i haven't read asuseka, so I don't know how similar a parallel about the emotional impact is in both cases. however, yeah, emotionally destructive is the best way to define it in this one ; if you want to discover the nature of said emotional destruction, you can... you know, read it

It's not about asuseka, it's about showing how anon caused a misunderstanding by using an unfitting meme reaction picture. If your game really was "destructive" then it wouldn't be advisable to read it, but of course, most likely you're just carrying over meme phrases from your former "online space" (something like "Clannad BROKE me" is another example), so it is indeed on my to-read list.

Just his once spoonfeed me some places to get untranslated VNs, I've looked around so much I'm tired. I'm trying to download Himawari but all the sites I've found that have it ended up in:

>file deleted
>bust your ass to download all parts only for the archives to be broken and unrepairable
>open it, english inside

The closer I've gotten is with as but it was broken as shit when I opened it. I want it to start some immersion and even though I realise there are better VNs for it, looking for it for so long has made me stubborn about it.

Seiyuus choice was the biggest drawback for me even more than repetitive text, i couldn't get attached to any main heroines other than kuro, and her route being killed by pacing was only salt on the wound
And yet whenever i listen to the osts my eyes get insta wet again despite me not even having any fond impressions towards the game, the saying that 70% of the enjoyment of any eroge lies in the music could never be more true

Make sure to lurk a bit before posting. You already have djt. Yes, that thread is shit, so if you want to ask something on this board at least don't make it clear that you're a tourist (in this case the "top kek" "meme" you posted, and talking about "immersion").
You can see some websites on the picture. "Dishonors Japanese releases" means that a website may have Japanese eroge if they're actually untranslated, but if an English translation is available, it will most likely have it instead of the original. Also, you can try various spellings (Japanese title, romanization, different romanization, etc) when searching. Additionally, some VNs may be packaged in collections (eg. a company's 20th anniversary collection containing all their games), so if you don't find it individually you may search for the collection if one exists. Also, you may sometimes even find some VNs being shared on this thread if you search in the archives.

The few times I've visited /djt/ the "discussion" made schizoid vg threads look like the Platonic academy in comparison so I make it a point to stay away. I mostly posted the pic because I really like the scene and had a dekinai edit saved too, didn't really expect it would create butthurt. Nonetheless thanks a lot for the sources and advice, I'll keep all your points in mind going forward. My unsolicited advice in turn would be to not let inane stuff upset you for no good reason, everyone has real problems to be upset about so no need to make it worse for yourself by creating more from nothing.

Yes, it has a god tier voice acting (tamura yukari on aqua btw) and more polished text

It's not an uncommon sight on that website, and not all torrents like that are dead/broken.
>Is the remake better or should I get the original?
I haven't played either but from a bit of research it seems that the remake is overall better (it censors the H-scenes, but those were allegedly few and mediocre), but the music may be worse (though you allegedly can get the music files from the original and replace the ones in the remake with it).

I still can never get all the fuss about original music being better, the only explanation i have is that it's a whatever-you-plated-first bias

Yeah I found out there was a voiced version only after I made that post and finished the game. And it was also me that put the link, along with virtually everything else on the vndb page sans the image and title after I finished playing, glad to see my hard work is already paying off and someone took interest.
I wasn't even sure web archive saved files like this, but good thing they do since the game might have been lost forever otherwise. Had to go into the page source code to find the download link, because the page formatting is messed up and the links are off screen on the page, that's why I missed the voiced version on the page the first time.

As for what it's about, the protagonist is a college student on summer vacation, lazing about, parents just went on vacation for a week. Then his cousin he met once shows up at the door, she ran away from home after having a fight about something with her parents. Things are a bit awkward, but they end up talking a little bit and she says that her life is grey and colorless and unchanging to which his response is basically "wanna fuck?". After which any kind of plot pretty much ends there and they spend the next 6 days flirting and having sex like newlyweds.
Very summery game, pool, fireworks, shopping, ice cream, heat... but a lot of its short playtime is sex scenes. I tagged it about as thoroughly as I could if you want an idea of what's in it. Dialogue is cute and comfy and their relationship is basically that of a cute couple.

There's NO blowjob though.
Oh yeah, there's also a little extra scenario in the omake once you complete the game, fyi.

At their core blowjob scenes are gay because they're about the male's sexual organ and a female's non-sexual organ (mouth)... the female being naked is optional and non-inherent.
Even naizuri scenes are inherently better because they must involve a girl's bare chest (female bare chest is secondarily sexual).

Need a game where the protagonist isn't afraid to smash her face into the pavement if she resists or break her leg and leave her in the alleyway if she tries to run away. Or do it without a reason just to let off steam. Even if not so extreme, at least throw a punch.

and dlsite for example sells videos and puts them in zips, if the video gets updated in the future and doesn't include a readme you could easily tell if you were downloading the updated version by looking at the timestamp. timestamps like any other form of information can have use depending on the circumstances. also more importantly i'm not saying any of this because of you but for the sake of others who might read this

We live in a real world. BitTorrent protocol takes care of any corruption. If your paranoia is that bad, make a .torrent yourself and upload it along with the file for the anon with a nyaa account to download both and check if the file from DDL matches the .torrent. No corruption possible, and your paranoia is happy.

>if the video gets updated in the future
Get fucking real. No one will upload the updated video to a torrent tracker. There's nothing to update to begin with, it isn't even subbed. Moreover, the .mp4 file format (video stream) contains encoding timestamp for the paranoid autismos such as yourself.

Thank you, but 遠慮するわ. I get my intake of sincerity from Moege, Nakige, and other types of ge that don't even need edginess.

There are at least two continents that are full of "people" who idolize and practice violence and would never see the value in ideals portrayed in art like moege and nakige.
Do you find them agreeable?

truly sincere moege are pretty rare at least by the popular makers because most of the time their goal is to just please the reader and the feelings of the writer come after
what i truly seek for is when the writer split his real thoughts and beliefs into the paper without thinking that he could hurt someone else or try to please some certain groups of people just to boost his sales, just something he truly wants to do for himself and just accidentally turns it into the peakest form of art

This reads like a Subahibi review.

When you create art for the benefit of others, you can create something that is close to pure art; when you try to reduce it solely to the material aspects, like music being mere vibrations of the air, or merely make art for yourself/for sale/for art's sake, you can't ever capture the soul, even if you chase it with all your genius and skill.
I know a classical composer who is obsessed with the idea of creating a "pure music" that "contextualizes itself". It is a path to delusion where you can't tell what sounds good or bad anymore.
Seems like the modern Westoid-influenced conception of art is always either so abstract it's meaningless to the world, or so reductive it becomes a mockery of art.

i agree with this
probably only gonna find that in doujinge but that's why i like unhinged, unfiltered single writer stuff

you can find it a lot in early chuunige or in romeo works
i would especially recommend paradise lost for it, it's as close to the pure edgity as one can possibly get

a lot of people call it boring and surely if you compare it to dies it falls noticeably on the plot part, but it got some truly hard-boiled chuuni you probably won't find anywhere else
ryle is literally my role model of the cool protagonist and pretty much everything i ever dreamed of being in my teen chuuni years in one single character

Ryle and Astaroth both carried Paradise Lost for me. Also the dude that voiced Satanail was literal perfection. I don't know how to describe it, but he had that perfect mix of arrogance + どうでもいい

>hate
I love girls. If I hated girls I wouldn't want them in my eroge at all.

Anyway all that aside, all I was saying is that 凌辱ge is just too tame and has stagnated and has not kept up with the evolving modern 凌辱ge consumer.
Not only has it stagnated, it has regressed from the state it was in in the early 00s'. To be fair, I read through the 2ch threads for Assemblage games from '02 to '06 (back when all the 2ch archives weren't dead) and everyone did always mention that the more ひぎぃ works was basically a super niche genre that was always teetering on the edge of getting edged out. Which it eventually did when the company went bust.
I guess it was really only something that could exist in the eroge bubble.

I don't know under what circumstances we can go back.

I am by no means an expert in this genre and have only played a handful, but I have to admit that the trashcan in Rasen Kairou was pretty intense. No idea how that well that holds up when compared to subsequent titles.

Do you have any example eroge like that (supposing they aren't shitty doujin with less than 100 sales)?

well like i said already paralost is still one of my favorites, nitro stuff (especially hanachirasu and demonbane sequel, or even the angelos armas one), all the alicesoft stuff is very much like that (with kichikuou and daiakuji being clearly ahead for me), romeo stuff with saihate being the most infamous one where he clearly didn't give a single damn about whoever going to read it, asairo is another good example of not giving a shit about the target audience (you know if you know), extravaganza and other blackcyc games especially after you read the all the staff comments after finishing the game and know exactly with what feelings they were creating their games
