that's not changing the definition but fully elucidating the concept of grammar, which includes both levels.
as for set phrases, they're not abstract enough to pass as common patterns in practice. they don't inherently involve moving parts, so in practical terms they're more like their own singular instances with set content rather than regularities abstracted from (or common to) many instances with different content. but im sure there are some edge cases even here. there are no clear-cut distinctions here because of what ive said earlier

Recently started getting into J-dramas on netflix with JP subtitles on. I struggle with listening to japanese radios and podcasts though. this happens to me with the built in optimizer and scheduler, but when i use the bleeding edge optimizer from the fsrs github and put the values into the custom scheduling script instead of anki's fsrs parameters box it significantly reduces my daily load instead.
no idea why it's like this. anki's optimizer is out of date but the schedulers should both be version 4.11.1 so in theory it should behave the same when using the same parameters, but it doesn't. my retention rate is consistent even with the reduced load though.
