"泣きそう〜" is a Japanese phrase that means "I'm about to cry." It's a combination of the verb "泣く" (naku), meaning "to cry," and the auxiliary verb "そう" (sou), which indicates that something appears to be the case or is about to happen. The "~" symbol at the end is a variation of a Japanese emoticon that represents tears streaming down the face.

make your own 募集 with a gimmick (trying new stuff until it works) and develop a routine to keep women entertained in the beginning

I haven't studied Japanese for over 10 years so I'm just slowly getting back into it.

Can anyone tell me how I say something along the lines of "is there something you wanted to do?" (in regards to someone potentially wanting to do something but not asking)?

I've looked through my textbooks and at the usual translation tools but I'm not sure what the most natural way to say it in Japanese is.

Maybe 何かやりたいことがあるんですか?
Not sure if it's meant to be past or present tense in Japanese, because it's not something that has technically happened yet. The tense in English seems misleading (or perhaps it's not).

reposting this here bc its more relevant here i guess:
japanese beginner here
i can translate the syllabels with ease already(ma da i ta no ka), but how the fuck do i know where a word ends an another starts? how do i differentiate them? that's kinda the only thing i dont get about japanese; sure, its easier with kanji i would assume, but still... for all i know it could be just two words: "mada" and "itanoka", but apparently its 4 seperate ones, being "mada ita no ka", which means something along the lines of "you're still here?" if google translate is correct...
ill never get the hang of this language man... it just doesnt make sense to me at all yet, like its all just instinct with no logic whatsoever that's apparent to me yet... i want to die and i feel so unmotivated right now

japanese is a spoken language which is written with a quantum cipher that changes based on who, when, and where is deciphering it, in other words it gets 1000x easier if you have listened to japanese a lot and your mind already has an idea if what the sentences are trying to say than trying to go the other way around, in my experience
in practice youll really selcom be confused by things like where words start or end or anything like that
just watch easy anime, or vbijin, you live in a blessed era where there is infinite quality content within reach. it gets a lot a lot easier and very fast, just don't stress too much. it was like that for most everyone cept geniuses, and the genius experience is useless for you because you arent one.

First of all don't worry about stuff like this. As a beginner you don't need to think about the bigger picture, just keep building your basic vocabulary and grammar knowledge.

Secondly this isn't an issue for the same reason that it wouldn't be in English if we didn't use spaces. When you know the language you can more or less predict what's likely to come next. I'm sure you've finished someone's sentence for them before right?

In this scene not only is it divided with a line break but the context makes it obvious what he's talking about.

For me, since ASMR is relaxing and comfy I feel like I can listen to it whenever. The cons being that people don't normally whisper, speak that quietly or speak at a slower pace. I think how helpful the ASMR is also depends on what the video is about. A roleplay's helpfulness will depend on what it's about and the language being used, how much the ASMRist is speaking in it, what pace they're speaking at etc. I think the most helpful ASMR videos for me are ones in which people are just rambling and talking about whatever but they're sadly less common than your typical roleplay.

Anki is a huge waste of time, japanese moreso than other languages is very logical and there is usually a way to figure out what words mean if you know their base components, pretty much everything can be a compound word.
The best way is to watch curedolly and start reading. If you don't know a word look it up in a monolingual dictionary, if you can't understand that then use Wiktionary. "basic/intermediat/advanced Dictionary of Japanese grammar" series is a good reference after you've seen curedolly.
If you feel the need to use an srs app, don't do it for more than 20 minutes a day until after you've seen all of curedolly and read at least the Basic dictionary of japanese grammar.
Wiktionary is a good resource for light dictionary reading, but always want to check a monolingual dictionary like 大辞林 first.

As for this there is the tadoku series of graded readers that you can find free and not free uploaded online, and plenty of other graded readers if you google around. Once you finish BDOJG and reading and rereading all the level 0 and 1 stuff you can find, then you can move on to level 2 stuff and IDOJG.
When you finish ADOJG, and all the levels (as well as curedolly) and have read and reread B and I and all your graded reading you can move on to easy light novels and manga.

To be honest knowing both kanji forms won't hurt at all. I've seen even graphical subtitles produced in Japan with Chinese forms.
If you don't know how to interpret that it'll be confusing.

I agree, knowing the han form can't hurt, but I have been wondering why the way it is written on jisho and in anki is slightly different since I started.
Glad I know why now.
I think ill stick with the strictly japanese forms for now however, im not good enough in the language to be able to learn differences like that effectively at this point.

So I finished memorizing all hiragana and katakana not too long ago, and I've since moved onto Kanji via Anki and have been at it for a couple days, doing 20 a day.
But I don't really feel like I'm learning them this way, more like I just fail them enough until I've memorized them for that brief period of time, hit "good", and don't see them again until a couple days later and I've forgotten them again. Should I really continue like this?

first of all, stop trying to "learn kanji". learn words.
second of all, failing until you stop failing is a synonym for learning.
third of all, read more. that way you will see them between reps.
learning japanese is dead simple you just have to study. i dont know why people are so bad at this.
