Day 6: I don't know how to put this other than to say that my first real experience with Anki kicked my ass. Maybe it's an off day or early pains, but learning even basic kanji and verbs felt very difficult.

I made more progress with grammar and I'm tediously working my way through the exercises. I'm trying to pick up some basic vocab as I go through the lessons and examples, like 人、学、友、子、生、etc. Retaining the vocabulary while I type them out and practice is significantly easier. I'm thinking of holding off on Anki for a least a couple days while I try to pick up vocab as I work through basic grammar.

ちゃお is apparently a shojo manga periodical but boy howdy almost all of your translations are wrong.

>ラブレターが破れたー
The entire video is about this stupid pun and you neither localized nor translator-noted it.
>こっちが聞きたいよ
こっち means "myself" here. Nitpicky but this is an extremely common phrase, surely you can think of something less stilted than "I want to hear this one," like "That's what I want to ask!"
>なんだあれ
Nitpick: Why "is this" instead of "was that"? She's referring to the letter she read before??
>クソやべぇオヤジギャグの点数(についての返事)か
Why did you change the voicing here? "You want (my response of) the score for your shitty pun or (was that actually a love letter)?" か means "or" when followed by something else.
>誰がキュンキュンすんねん
"Who the fuck would get all heart-aflutter (is response to that)!"
>なんだあれ
Again.
>何を見たん。お前ぇは何を参考にしたん
"What did you look at!? What did you base it on!?" She's supposing that he based the shitty pun on something he saw or read somewhere
>聞きたいんだが
Again 聞く is "ask."
>こちとら
Another word for oneself, like こっち, more ironically formal. She's seriously looking down on him.
>ちゃおで育ってきてんねん
"I grew up reading Chao!"
>ちゃおで育ってきた子があんなラブレターもらったら大泣きやで
"If a girl who grew up on Chao got that kind of love letter she'd bawl her eyes out!" Very thick kansai accent. Blatantly irritated.
>健常者の会話じゃねぇ!
"This is not a normal-person conversation!" i.e. "what the fuck are you on right now!?"

Is there a way to change/upgrade the font used in the KanjiDamagePlus deck for Anki? 才 looks exactly the same as オ, and 誤 looks like pic related, well off the mark.

Missed one important one.

>お前ぇよ お前ぇよ?? どう生きて来たらあんなラブレバター思いつくんだよ
>You, You?? How can you come up with a love letter like that?
Where did you put the 生きて来たら? "What kind of life did you lead to bring you to coming up with that kind of love letter?"

You should learn basic grammar from textbooks not from videos.

Focus on acquiring vocabulary first and then do reading comprehension.

For grammar focus on learning verb conjugation and particles and try to ignore more detailed grammar explanations. Once you have thoroughly learned hiragana, katakana, and at least 200 kanji, get started on more complex grammar.

>literally every guide
The main page (https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/183869315)) says nothing about it, and https://itazuraneko.neocities.org/learn/anki only mentions issues on mobile devices, not computers. Even following the link to https://itazuraneko.neocities.org/library/benkyou only has a single item listed as a font, and I don't know if that's guaranteed to fix this issue or if it could possibly introduce other problems.
>>42367538
But what's the right font to use that would fix this? I feel like it's just so bizarre that certain kanji would be displayed outright incorrectly unless you take manual extra steps to fix it, yet you have to solve it yourself. How does even itazuraneko only mention issues for mobile devices when it does shit like this?

Can't go wrong with MSゴシック.

>> No.42367679

not really. When two kanji are together they usually follow the chinese (on yomi) reading but some kanji have just too many readings such as 物。

butsu
生物 seibutsu animal
物理 butsuri physics

motsu
穀物 kokumotsu cereal
荷物 nimotsu package

mono
物語 monogatari story
物事 monogoto thing

buu

物質 busshitsu material
物資 busshi goods

物事

Just memorize kanji compounds. Dont study kanji by itself unless it's a stand alone word.

Thanks for the help. How would you translate the pun? It's too simple of a joke for anything I can think of. I decided to use "Love letta, forgetta" because it rhymed but I'm sure there is a better way. I had a few of the changes you suggest originally but I struggle when to use a more literal translation vs what is actually meant or implied
