>What's an utaite?
Utaite (歌い手) is a Japanese term for people who cover previously released songs and post them on Nico Nico Douga and YouTube under the utattemita category. Generally, utaite do cover songs for VOCALOID original songs, anime, game-related songs, and J-Pop.

Of course anon. Hell vocaloid's so intertwined with the utaite scene anyway that we might as well just shitpost about voca-Ps too while we're at it.

I haven't kept up with the utaites i used to listen back then unless they pop up when I search for covers of voca songs or if they've turned doujin music group vocalist.
Recently been looping this utaites cover of Iyowa's Heat Abnormal (https://youtu.be/c32jAY--8Kc).). Suprised anyone had the guts to cover it really.

I like the songs using traditional japanese instruments so I like his older songs a lot, but honestly haven't really checked him for a while.

Yeah I get what you mean. For example, Pegs self covers are hit or miss to me.

They've been doing trad japanese instrument covers of popular vocaloid songs lately.

Also I suppose it's just my inclination towards feminine voices acting up again, and most voca-Ps are dudes. Actually, now that I think of it, I can't really think of any really well-known female voca-Ps. Maybe kanaria and azari but I'm not certain about their genders

Honestly the EDs are my favorite part of the anime, having kanaria, syudou, ZTMY, MtH release songs that are both fitting theme of the episode while also being bangers on their own is great

Recently started dipping my toes into Miyashita Yuu's third album after saving it for a couple years for a content drought from the guy. Aside from Anonymous Egoism being the magnanimous long-awaited collab between him and his favourite band, I've been loving his collab with kairiki bear on Endgame (https://youtu.be/-hWlBT6ER_o)) a bunch too. Love the brief peak at his deeper voice at 1:38!

Course I can't deny that Kairiki has an issue with guitar 'sameface' where all his later works sort of blend together into the same sound, with some exceptions here and there like Darling Dance. In fact, the chorus in particular really reminds me of Lemming-ming (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1zh-ecjHRs).). But still, I can't deny my love for leitmotif kino.

Also, Miyashita Yuu being based as always. When most utaite get at most one collab with kairiki bear, he gets *two*! Talk about playing favourites lmao.

i don't think they're that obscure? ちびた was quite popular. she used to be 古川本舗 first choice for his songs, and they did some singalong albums together. 古川 was a big shot, he used to be the face of space shower indies until he decided to retire. he's back now, but he's nowhere as popular as he was. ちびた is retired, she has kids to take care of.

ねんね is not that obscure too i think, a couple of her original songs reached more than 100k views. nowhere near as popular as mafu or ado is, but she's not a nobody either.
