I can't understand half the shit they say. But it's just a given on 2channel's anime boards, and on Futaba as a whole that everyone is just an apathetic otaku who has never had a girlfriend. I feel a lot more at home. I wish the mods at futaba would make special dispensation to let me post though.

For example, a thread on /r9k/ about how anons deal with roneryness is 'linkin park shit' and should be taken to 'livejournal', but when it's a thread about 'BAWWW I MISS MY GIRLFRIEND/EX GIRLFRIEND SOOOO MUCH!' then it's AWWWWRIGHT apparently...

If it was normal to not have a girlfriend at aged 20 then we wouldn't feel ronery, we only feel ronery because everyone else has a girlfriend. For this reason I propose we use the coordinates provided at the beginning of Bioshock and build a new Rapture beneath the Atlantic Ocean where EVERYONE will be ronery, but, because we are all ronery, paradoxically none of us will be ronery.

Can you imagine it? A whole underwater city to ourselves /jp/? We'd invite the best elements of /a/ too of course. But can you imagine just popping round to some other anons apartment and being like 'sup man, wanna watch Kaiji 25?' and he'd be like 'ok' and then we'd all be like 'shall we invite our girlfriends along' and then we'd laugh.

I don't like normalfags. I'll be honest, I think normal people are the cancer killing 4chan. Look at /b/'s front page, it's all 'my girlfriend' this and 'my girlfriend' that, it's nothing but posturing bravado in my eyes and it doesn't contribute to the overrall quality of a board. Want to know why night time /a/ and previously night time /v/ were remembered so fondly? Because most of the people on 4chan at 2:00am PST are not 'normal' considering societal definition, often abnormal people are the most creative though, they take out their abnormality in artistic ways. That's why so many of them are good at creative writing (look at how many famous authors have been abnormalfags). And I'm not talking serial killer abnormal or, or anyone who feels the need to identify with pathetic subcultures like emo or scene, I'm talking about people who are just quite cynical and have an understanding of the term 'dry wit'.

In short, normal people are boring - they talk about normal things, their normal life with their normal girlfriend at their normal school/college/workplace with their normal friends eating their normal food and retiring to their normal apartment/house. They aren't interesting. Take that horse head dude on Nico Nico, he's clearly as abnormal as they come, yet he's absolutely hilarious as a result. The world would be fucking BORING without people like that. Basically, /b/'s content these days is normal people dealing with normal things in a normal way ('hey /b/, i fucked such and such a girl, but X problem happened, what do I do?') Tell me honestly, is that as hilarious as hearing anons give serious advice on how to jerk off over sleeping girls? Or hearing someone recount an genuine incest story? Fuck no.

Don't take this in an offensive way, I just don't want the normalfags spreading to other boards. Let's keep /jp/ abnormal.

>> No.404144

the disease known as normalfaggotry is spreading from board to board with rampant pace.

Symptoms include (but are not limited to):

- Including the obligatory 'my girlfriend' in each post.
- Calling people 'weeaboos' for liking anime/manga given the absurdity of this as a pejorative given the context of where you are.
- Egging on camwhores, not understanding that camwhores are part of the cancer.
- Being a camwhore.
- Being an advicefag.
- Thinking raiding scientology is 'epic lulz'
- Having a myspace.

I don't get the crushing burden others feel to be normal to be honest. Maybe it's because the other areas in my life are pretty 'normal' by comparison to my love life (i.e. nothing). But there's something quite wonderfully awesome about being ronery that you never quite notice until you're confronted with the normality of say, your average 20 year old's relationship. maybe a better example... you can barely suggest an opinion or situation that is anywhere outside the "norm" for the board. Girls don't do themselves any favours on 4chan, camwhores are proof of that. And attention whoring is far worse from girls than it is from guys. And why is it 'unusually nasty' on this board? I don't think it's particularly bad. A lot of small boards like /g/ for example are the same, they don't tolerate shit because they don't have to, they have a pretty well cemented userbase that is simply isn't going to tolerate something like an attention whore for example.

But in general, as I said, 2channelers just strike me as nicer people, able to discuss things in a rational manner far better than present day 4chan.

The real question being:
Where will we go after /jp/?

>> No.404438

>>404369
Well I in turn agree that a board is better off with posts on topic. But then again, what IS 'on topic' on /b/?

That's a pretty hard question. And people will answer this question differently at any given time, and no one of them will be wrong. Because /b/ doesn't have any rules and only the people there are what's /b/.

(it's also possible that /b/ at some point was completely exhausted of interesting discussion and took a entirely new course in response to this)

>> No.404442

I won't post where I will go (or where I already am) because then people who don't already know will follow.

I suggest you all do the same, people who know better places.

>> No.404457

>>404438

Nothing is particularly 'on topic' on /b/. As far as the divergence between ronery and 'my girlfriend' threads go on there though, I feel that 'my girlfriend' threads don't really contribute anything that interesting, it's just the same old posturing, really unsubtle bravado.

The odd ronery thread though, can produce a few posts, or a mini-discussion, that is quite enlightening though. 95% of the old optimistic copypasta comes from /b/'s old ronery threads (remember the 'winning the lottery of life by just existing' one for example). You dont get that with my girlfriend threads because they're just an excuse for liars and the odd person telling the truth to play a silly little game of oneupmanship with each other.

ah, perhaps im just rambling off my frustrations. i need to start talking to people in places where everyone has names again, gotta have a balance..

digression aside, it's fine to have low tolerance levels. keep the garbage out etc, but smaller boards get annoying that way when they start to shoo away even -completely- harmless things that they don't personally agree with from people who otherwise behave and don't start crap.

and do you have to keep implying "gb2/b/" every time? it's just as bad as the people jumping on every chance to call someone a newfag.

I'm serious, I'm fucking off to 2channel after /a/ and /jp/ are finally breached. My moon should be good enough by then.

Elitism is only a bad thing to people who are on the wrong end of it. Exclusionist communities are great for communities and everyone in it, quality is preserved. If you get kicked out of all of these communities for seemingly no reason at all there is probably a reason behind that entirely to do with you.

>> No.404479

>>404463

The way I think of it every high level anon should probably be investing in moon lessons by now, since it's the only way to continue digging himself underground to avoid the newfag advances.

>> No.404480

Isn't that the very reason we all started to learn moon? To get closer to that freaking elitist geek community.

>> No.404483

>>404458
Well, I mean, you personally sound ok.

But you've got to understand what I mean by the term 'slippery slope'. What I'm saying is that it makes someone paranoid as another anon said, seeing what happened to /b/, it's the odd thread at first, then it becomes a trickle, and then it just totally degenerates into a torrent of floodwater, or perhaps more aptly, shit.

I subscribe to the normalfag theory so for me things like increasing numbers of camwhores, 'hey /b/, /v/, /a/ [whatever] I'm a gurl! :)', 'sup anon, post ending in X means Y' and so on are examples of this. But the difference is so incremental and gradual that you've just got to draw the line somewhere and say enough is enough.

That's my personal opinion anyway.

>> No.404490

Every internet savvy japanese person posts in 2ch it is the furtherist thing away from "elitist geek community". However your average japanese internet user is also far more resourcful and constructive towards a community then your average westerner.

and thus, my conclusion on /jp/'s crummy attitude. normal on the internets, but i always get the odd feeling you guys apply it everywhere else with how seriously it's taken. not saying i think it's true, but my original musings weren't all that seriously thought out.

it's an anonymous board where no one has to even sign up. if you want exclusivity go make a locked forum for only your friends.

>> No.404505

>>404483
i'll agree with you, that makes sense. sometimes i feel the line gets drawn a bit too thick sometimes though.

i subscribe to the belief that it's 4chans own fault for the attentionwhores. if girls weren't such a big deal in the first place they wouldn't be exploiting it.

>> No.404508

>>404490
It differs from board to board. Their academy boards for example are full of pretty normal people (but without the bravado of certain normal 4channers). Their anime boards however are not so much elitist but are pretty much chock full of the Japanese version of /jp/sies.

You're right about the 'constructive' part though, I mean, they turned anti-Korean racism is a fucking cutesy artform... There's an entire 8 or 9 posts complete with shift-j art 'explaining' the history of the Korean economy with the help of Nida.

>> No.404517

>>404505
>sometimes i feel the line gets drawn a bit too thick sometimes though.

Perhaps. But that's the fault of the people who made us all paranoid in the first place. We simply can't let what happened to /b/, and is happening to /v/, happen to other decent boards, that's the opinion of most of us involved to be honest.

As for girls. Yeh, there are girls on 4chan that probably hate camwhores as much as we do and so on. But they're anonymous, and ergo they're one of us.

>> No.404522

>>404491

How are we supposed to apply it everywhere outside we are the freaks outside, the unwanted ones. The idea of the anonymous system was to follow what 2ch does and have peer pressure moderate quality in the community, and many people here believed that it might work here too. I guess we didn't take into account what happens when the status quo changes into something akin to youtube comments when the userbase changes.

>> No.404523

Okay, disclaimer: I have a girlfriend (Pudgey and watches anime), and I've only been around 4chan since summer 2006.

But I agree completely. Especially since the sci-fag bullshit, it seems like we're being overrun by frat boys and moral fags.

I guess that's why I started hanging out in /jp/. I don't understand half of what you guys are talking about, but it's nice to be on a board that actually contains 4chan's target audience.

You smell. People just don't say these things very often because it's considered impolite but mostly just because they don't want any possible friction. They'd rather lie instead of just honestly say what they want to so they can avoid the slight possibility of offending you and possibly getting into an argument.
