MG has become extremely risk adverse after they lost hundreds of thousands in an attempt to pivot to steam all-ages only releases which massively backfired. As a result of that they only license titles they are 100% sure they can turn a profit on solely through their own storefront and Kuroinu wasn't a title they were confident they could do that with. So they instead opted for the episodic release which is significantly faster and cheaper since they don't need to finish 100% of the title before they sell it, they just need to finish 1/3rd before they start getting income flowing in from it. Then they get another spike after finishing 2/3 then another chunk for 3/3.

I'm honestly confused why MG has published several early-access titles on steam but has never attempted to early access release an extremely long and expensive title where they have monthly or bi-monthly updates to it that are translation updates for it so that they can secure capital for it during the translation process rather than just at the very end of it.

There was once a discord server focused on visual novels called /vng/, which also went by tokocord. It died, and /vng/ the second episode was made to be tokocord 2. That survived for a few years, and totopo found it and was kind of annoying there, but I thought he was fun sometimes. Totopo took a break for a few months and when he came back, tokocord wouldn't let him back in so he just snuck in with a pile of alt accounts. They still wouldn't let totopo back in despite him entering on literally probably 100 accounts (they removed the new account joining message and log page due to how many accounts joined from him), so totopo got fed up and had the tokocord server banned from discord fully. Now they are on tokocord 3 and it's got about 50 people, they mostly mope about how stale it is now that they can't let new people in for fear that the second they do totopo will find them and destroy their server again.
