What just happened? Why is this special and why did the round just completely restart?

>> No.2671126

If everyone discards the same tile, the game restarts.

Just the first tile everyone discards, or at any point in the game?

First tile. Another fun thing to do is to make the fourth kan. That ends the round too.

Help a mahjong newbie out /jp/?

Only started learning at the weekend and earlier in the week I had the pictured setup - why couldn't I finish on this hand?

I couldn't work it out at the time but having since read up some more since then (here specifically: http://www.ofb.net/~whuang/ugcs/gp/mahjong/mahjong.html#scoring)) - was it because the hand had no multiplier (yaku)?

Scuse the tiny pic, it's from a mobile app.

To declare a win, you need at least one yaku and your hand doesn't appear to have one. Just look for a yaku list somewhere.

Thought so but wanted to check, thanks. :)
