Its more likely that if some shit were to go down, it'd be the straw that broke America's back. Japan lost WWII because its incompetent idealist leaders had their resources overstretched from the beginning. America is going the same way.

And in that situation, my money is with the side that has 2 years of compulsory military training for all males, rather than the guys with no military.

Any sort of hypothetical war involving South Korea, Japan, and the US in any configuration of alliances would be fought almost entirely at sea and in the air. The US Navy's role in our current war is limited to say the least.

Actually, American interests were directly interfering with Japan's supplies of oil and rubber more and more. They actually thought if they attacked America's major Naval fleet it would cause them to withdraw. Which, in retrospect, was sort of stupid.

Though yeah, that's how the Japanese military justified it. It was actually the same tactic that started the Russo-Japanese war(which they won btw).

Both of you are wrong. In 663 AD, Yamato-period Japan was allied with the Kingdom that ruled Southwestern Korea (Baekje), and China was allied with the Silla in Southeast Korea. Japan and the Baekje lost badly and Japanese troops stayed out of Korea for 900 years more until Hideyoshi's invasion.

and various UN peacekepping mission. Placed in high alert state since Korean war plus they have good defense industries that produced various miltary weaponary, equipment that exported to all nation around the world.

And lastly the Northy Korean. Among the largest armed land forces in the world. Mostly equipped with antiqueted equipment. But, some of them still being a mystery like 'Ch'ŏnma-ho Main Battle Tank' (The exact spefication still unknown to the west). The most soldiers are trained semi-proffesionally and have fanatical sense of patrotism.
