I've explored that world a few years back and found very little in Japan, except a decent ecovillage, which unfortunately is now too big

https://konohana-family.org/en/

farms that are listed as WWOOF or Workaway hosts might welcome a gaijin for a few weeks, but usually they are in the middle of nowhere and expect that you really work for the food they give to you since they are too poor to do otherwise; now if you call "self sufficient" a place that can't afford the internet and heating in winter... well, just go; but at least avoid "hostels" type of places because basically you'll be required to clean the toilets used by chinese tourists

Those are not small for East Asia.

I cannot assume for Japan, but the stalls in China/Taiwan will often be even smaller for night markets and temple grounds, and the answer is that:
1. The owners have to carry them in-and-out, perhaps every day, and set up. The plus side being lower costs than renting an actual hole-in-the-wall on site.
2. Depending on the street/temple, you might be required, either by space or by regulation, to move and set up the stalls by hand. This encourages lightweight materials, smaller sizes, and simple design.

I know it's a real place but that particular image just doesn't look right.
An incredibly well detailed illustration or painting, or a photo so heavily edited it no longer looks like a photo.

For example, almost the entire view appears in focus, but all the apparent falling snow are out of focus balls.
If you use that video as reference, to get the light required for such a detailed shot you'd need a longer exposure, but there's no motion blur in the snow, in the people moving, not really all that much in the water (the foreground water in particular).

I really enjoyed it, but I like the long Taiga dramas and the like. In fact, I'll go further than 'really enjoyed it' - it was brilliant, but it's a hell of a time investment. In a way, it's as much a social history of Twentieth Century Japan as it is a drama, and the length of it means you get more engrossed in the story than you normally would when watching a TV drama (at least, I did). It can be quite a gruelling watch at times to, as they pulled no punches in showing the darker elements of Japan during that period (children sold into indentured servitude or prostitution, etc). There is a torrent for it on Nyaa, with subs on the d-addicts forum.

No, not really, i shoot in aperture/shutter priority 90% of the time anyway, I pretty much only use manual when I want something very specific, and my camera isn't smart enough to pick up on it.
As for the camera itself the technology has advanced pretty far in the past couple of years, an EOS branded camera from the last couple of years will barely run you a couple of hundred bucks, paired with something like the new 1.8 50mm can get you as pretty a picture as you want, throw in a zoom for good measure and you're set.
Most people really concentrate on that though, when it's barely 10% of the deal, what matters more is:
Composition
Location
Timing and time spent
Editing

I swear if you just take your time and fuck around with a shot you're almost guaranteed to get something you'll like

It's Japan in the year 2030. Everywhere you go you hear music made by Blacks from around the world; even rural areas aren't safe. Imagine watching those Japanese women twerking, presenting their cheeks to the nearest foreign bull, while their mothers rejoice at the beauty of progress, and their fathers contemplate suicide for the tenth time this week. Japan will be flooded with millions of migrants: Berbers, Arabs, Africans, Filipinos, and even the odd Swede. Swarming around the locals, they set up their shitty peddling areas, crowding out native businesses, erasing the refined and elegant Japanese scripture with an asymmetrical, distorted mess of different languages in shops, on signs, and even in manga.

As the Japanese are reduced to a marginal interest group in their own country, even their laws will not be safe from immigrant protests. First, they will be lobbied, bullied, and shamed into accepting their new feminist laws. Women will get preferential treatment in all areas of employment, until there are no more suitable men that out-earn them, and the men will be reduced to shit-tier service sector labour, and involuntary, depression induced NEETdom. Next, they will start writing their legislation in multiple languages; to show the inclusive nature of the state, and to welcome the new Japanese to their tolerant new home. This is just the beginning though, eventually, once the Japanese population becomes the minority, the language of legislation will be converted to the most inclusive, universal, and progressive language of all: English. By this point there will be nothing unique left of the Japanese. They will be lonely and depressed, they won't have kids, and the remaining children will either be atomized, isolated men, or globalized, booty bouncing, diversity loving thots, desperate to improve their status by dating the biggest, strongest, urban beast they could find.

This is the future of Japan, and it’s beautiful.

Sexism.
But for reals, mostly to avoid misunderstandings. Chikan is a thing that does happen, but it is way over-blown. But considering how packed the trains are at peak times, accusations are likely to happen from misunderstandings.
This is why the female-only carriages are only at peak times. But if you're a man in a packed train it is best to keep both your hands in plain sight and above shoulder height.

Is it possible to plan a trip to coincide with a snow day in another country if you need like two weeks at least to plan?

>> No.24883056

>>24882637
GFS model predicts 3 weeks, but expect an accuracy of like 5% on the 3rd one and 20% on the 2nd; ECMWF is better but is 10 days if I remember, still can be wrong half the time for predictions longer than 6 days; look up them at Meteociel then search websites explaining how to read the spaghetti ensemble

Yeah like anon said Jan to early March is the best period to catch snow especially in Hokkaido and northern Tohoku.
These pictures was taken earlier this year when I traveled around Hokkaido and Tohoku for almost a month.
The amount of snowdrop this year was really bad according to the people I talked to during my trip. Imagine ski places have to resort to fake snow to attract skiers, thats how bad it is. So if this trend continues its only going to get worse over the years.

Take this with a grain of salt.
Last year's rainy season was really mild compared to previous years but the rainy season this year has been greater than normal so I'm predicting that winter will have greater than usual snowfall.
Last year was pretty much unusual for the whole year.
