"Okitegami Kyouko no Bibouroku" ("Okitegami Kyouko's Notebook") looks like a potentially interesting film. I'm guessing it's a comedy, rather than a thriller like the American film "Memento."

Still, the character's surname seems a bit sinister. I wasn't familiar with the name "Okitegami," so I looked it up. Turns out this is a word that also means (in a very different spelling) a letter left behind by someone who has died.

>Gakki
>Ratings Queen
I hope you’re being sarcastic, but if not then in which parallel universe Gakki considered a ratings queen? She rarely has any impact to any boost of any dramas’ ratings. We’re talking Nigehaji? It’s because of the performance of the leading actor and the excellent script-writing. Legal High? Same with Nigehaji. Code Blue? It’s a continuation of a cult classic, the combination of the original cast, and especially Tomohisa Yamashita are the reasons for the high ratings, not directly connected to Gakki.
I love Gakki, she’s my crush since middle school, but facing the facts, she’s not as big of a ratings draw.
The only actress who would fit the “queen of ratings” nickname nowadays is Yonekura Ryoko and that depends solely on the specific roles she’s given (e.g Doctor X, Kaseifu wa Mita, Legal V).

So I watched Inuyashiki Live Action on a flight a while ago. It was pretty good for an action film with an old man as a lead. Funny to see though that Takeru Satoh is playing a high school student and a villain too. Story is like a mix of astroboy and death note. Movie was a bit melodramatic and some parts were left unexplained. I never saw the source material, so I have no idea if this was explained there.
Also I watched Kiseki. Very comfy film and also melodramatic at some parts. I always liked Greeeen songs so watching a biopic about them was pretty cool.

It's just classic retard behaviour. The rest of the cast are all obviously talking away from his prying eyes, so this shit will be resolved in an instant, they're just leaving it on a juicy cliffhanger. The first episode ended with a lot of carefully cut shots of the kiss attempt to generate drama, this is just the same thing.

Nobody is going to be crying over this shit, maybe some crocodile tears to edge out a bit more screentime. I hope the series ends with all of his misdeeds being revealed for some great reaction shots, he fucks things up so bad you'd think it was intentional.

I'm new into arthouse/kino, the only Kurosawa's film I've watched is Rashomon. I also watched Yasujiro Ozu's film "Early Summer" last night, I'd recommend it if you ever get bored with grandeur film like Kurosawa's. Ozu is quite the opposite, he likes to revisit same stories/setting over and over. Ordinary life, family, marriage, the gap between old and young generation, etc. His cinematography is quite mundane, no over the top action like in Kurosawa's samurai film, the camera movement is really limited, almost static all the time. But he has good sense of capturing the perfect angle and shots, creating extraordinary layouts in any given situation, traditional Japanese house, bar, office, and so on. Today I think I'm going to watch the last installment in Noriko trilogy (Late Spring, Early Summer, Tokyo Story). Setsuko Hara's performance is really enchanting, absolutely magical.

But if you're looking for action-ish film maker, probably try Takashi Miike? He has released some action film like Ichi the Killer, Blade of the Immortal, 13 Assassins, Crows Zero, etc.
Though of course he's not on the same level as Kurosawa.

For modern filmmaker I think Hirokazu Koreeda is the best. His new film, shoplifters, just won Palme d'Or this year. He has always touched same subject, like familial bond, human relationship, and touching stuff like that.

Season 1 adapts the first two novels, so there are two remaining novels.
I think there was talk of a season 2 but then Masato was cast as the title role of the 2016 Taiga drama. However whether this is the direct cause of no season 2 I'm not sure.

This movie had a decent cast of actors that were underutilized but the story was bland as well as the screen play. Kid's on the Slopeand Tori Girl were miles better than this.

saw this yesterday at my local asian film festival. a bit overhyped, since it was slapped with the cannes award headline. but i think this film was very well made. the storytelling is done in a very subtle way in the dialogue and in the small details of scenes. very heartwarming, it really made me think about the concept of family and what it is. very intricate plot, made me want to pay attention to it very closely and when it unravels it does so beautifully. i was expecting to bawl my eyes out upon knowing the premise of the film, but they merely got watery during the fucked up parts. gooood shit made me think a lot. the mom was my favorite character. thank you japan.
