Doujin games don't belong on consoles.

But speaking of them, I played this http://www.dlsite.com/maniax/work/=/product_id/RJ229045.html the other day. It's pretty crazy. I just wish you had some sort of control over the character and it had online multiplayer. The dancing is hilarious even if it knocks the ball all over sometimes.

>> No.19458212

It's not a good game. Flashgame-tier shit shouldn't be sold like this, epsecially with the name Touhou attached to it.

To go into it more, it's a pool-like game where you fire a ball into other balls and while they bounce around, your character fights the other men to capture girls to his side. You get a certain amount of time to run around, that increases as the ball hits things, but the character moves automatically and so might spend time beating up other guys instead of capturing girls. You also have 12 total shots and only 3 times to fire a shot without hitting any balls before you lose the round. You can also lose the round if all your clothes get torn off from being hit by the balls or beaten up by the others. The same can happen to the other guys. You win when you get all six girls on your side.

Whenever you aren't doing anything, everyone is dancing and it's pretty amusing, and then you fire the ball and everyone starts running around and punching each other while trying to fuck the girls and everything is exploding. Like most doujin games it feels incomplete, but it's a fun idea. Also the creator seems to be working on it more, so it might evolve into a better game over time. The camera in this game is fucking shit so I hope that gets fixed soon, not that I'm probably going to play the game for a while unless someone makes an updated torrent.

I'd recommend Ghost Hunter Reimu. Story and interface are mostly understandable without language knowledge, and gameplay is as good as in Remidoki (since games have lots of similarities). It's harder than Remidoki though, as there is no flying around at all, and lots of enemies. And extra mode seems to be way, way harder than anything in those two games.

Sadly, I'm not good with non-2hu doujin games even though I watch edelweis videos every comiket and make lists of games to look after. Maybe I should get my ass and do that.

I want to talk in detail about doujin games I like and maybe inspire discussion or people to play them, but I realized most ones I really like are eroge and so might be ignored and judged only on their porn value. They're also all in Japanese which seems like it's less common for people to do anything but read manga and VNs with.

Nonetheless people rarely ever talk about doujin games unless it's people on /v/ and /vg/ talking about translated stuff on steam, so I want to try. It's a shame there's not really many multiplayer games to get more discussion going though.

Besides this being a blog posting warning, does anyone else want to talk about doujin games they've played beyond "I like x"? Like your experiences playing it, what you liked or hated about it, etc. I'd like to see impressions of various games from various people.

So this is Biblinthus by Platine Dispositif, who make lots of games that I mostly don't play for some reason. A lot of them seem to get translated/western releases and this is a couple years old (c88 I believe), so I don't know if it was released on steam or whatever, but it probably was. Nonetheless it has English text option, at least in the version I have.

For whatever reason I like this game a lot despite it being a minigame tier game like a lot of doujin games are. No idea what, if any, game its gameplay is based on, but you go around a dungeon stacking dungeon pieces together to build a maze. As you drop the pieces into place, you can spawn items and enemies while trying not to block yourself in or have your character scroll off the screen when the camera moves to show where the next piece fell. After you've created a certain amount of area, you can warp to a new area. The game only progresses when you take a step instead of being real time, so you get time to consider but you also have to be careful when backtracking.

There are lots of items of varying usefulness, but you can only hold a few at a time, and they are consumed in reverse order that you get them, so you have to take that into account when picking them up, although you can drop some of them(non consumable and non cursed) and pick them up in a different order.

It doesn't seem like it has replay value to me, but I keep playing it again every now and then. I like the aspect of trying to both put pieces in the right place and have them overlap the jewels in the background so that they spawn things. I also like how it's relatively easy but I don't always complete it.

This is Maken Candy
http://www.dlsite.com/maniax/work/=/product_id/RJ215409.html

It's made by an artist I personally dislike called Paseli, whose characters all look like monkeys, possibly intentionally. https://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=685548 Apparently they also make a ton of games, which sort of shows because this is actually a pretty fun and good quality game.

You control the hero in an effort to save 3 princesses from a demon queen and her army. You move by moving the mouse towards the sides of the screen and attack by clicking. This is pretty annoying but also effective for what it is. Its been updated with keyboard controls but as far as I know that version isn't up for piracy. Besides going through the levels and beating up enemies, you also can collect various clothing and jewels that power up your character. The jewels let you uses a ranged attack with similar colored clothing. The clothes themselves have various effects on your character's strength and speed and a few other effects. There are also a few side quests and minigames you can do.

Despite the art(both the artist style and the quality of the 3d, which I think was intended to look like N64 generation graphics) some places have nice aesthetics, especially when there are many characters around, and the enemies themselves look nice and cute. The prior levels and main town also change appearance and enemies based on what the last level you entered was.(Although I'm not sure its supposed to go back to prior versions)

The only items you use are heal potions you can buy to heal yourself, although you can heal by rescuing girls in side rooms of each level. Besides those side rooms, there are secret areas you can discover and unlock. It's a game that can be beaten in a few hours if you blaze through it but there's enough content to keep you a few more hours collecting money or messing around or looking for things.

I really like the boss fights and how expressive characters are.

Despite being an ero game, the only ero scenes with the player as far as I know is with the three princesses. Each has 3 and doing sidequests unlocks the latter 2. The enemies themselves sometimes have hearts coming out, sometimes after they die, and tend to make ahegao expressions, so not being able to interact with them is annoying. The bosses also tend to have lewd things going on during the fight. There are also scenes with the fairly useless fairies you can get in each level. These fairies can support your attacks as long as you aren't hit, but as soon as you get them, certain areas spawn p'orc kids dead set on raping the hell out of them, so they're as annoying to hold onto as to make use of. The artist has a huge foot fetish, but fortunately keeps it toned down. The characters move their toes in strange ways if you look closely though.(like making peace signs with them) Also since the player character is female, they make use of a dongshroom in the hotsprings to bang the princesses. This game is also like 90% loli, which is fine, but the boobs on boob characters look weird.

Reading Japanese is probably necessary to 100% the game.

>i really only play 2hu doujin games
Honestly, I wish someone would talk about those since I don't really play them that much, especially the STG ones. I don't like RPGs so I've never touched any of the Touhou RPG ones people seem to like talking about and I don't generally play RPGmaker or Wolf RPG made erogames either, with a few exceptions like http://www.dlsite.com/maniax/work/=/product_id/RJ119661.html and the game this guy is continuously working on http://www.maitora.net/main.html

>what ero doujin games do you recommend?
Not sure, depends on your fetish. I don't like female ero protagonists, futa, yuri, monstergirls(as a genre), or bestiality, so my tastes and recommendations would probably be pretty outside the norm. I also mostly play action games and animations are basically required for me to touch a game. I also don't have any really weird fetishes so most games have something off-putting for me. Everything I'll suggest is probably more game than porn.

I liked this little action RPG game a lot. http://www.dlsite.com/maniax/work/=/product_id/RJ148967.html it's about some guy who has to go pacify the horny forest sprites and is kind of a run and gun. It's more story focused and isn't really special on its own.

I like the games this guy makes http://repureria.blog.fc2.com/ Technically he's made other games that are non ero that I don't give a fuck about but I like his ero games. http://repureria.x.fc2.com/ is a link to the various game pages and his non ero site for games like http://www.dlsite.com/home/work/=/product_id/RJ198072.html..
The games he has made are (Paradise demon castle) Repure Aria, (Paradise ruins) Limlilim(western places might call it Rimu ririmu or something), and is working on Repure Aria 2 now, although there's this minigame I forget the name of(something like osawaria or touchyaria) that was bundled with Repure Aria 2's demo.
The protagonist of the ero games are male, although they swap with females, and the enemies are mostly humanoid females, although Repure Aria is sort of monstergirlish. Repure is fun because of wall jumping, bukkake physics, and figuring out the ways you can sexually interact with the NPCs.
Limlilim is about throwing people around like SMB2 and I enjoy it even more than Repure Aria in terms of gameplay, but the NPCs have sex with each other more than you, Nonetheless it's a fun game with puzzles.
The author has a pee fetish. This troubles me sometimes, but doesn't actually show up that much. I'll probably talk about these games if the thread doesn't get bumped off before I do.

Other than that, Tobihime, the things by this guy http://libraheart.blog.fc2.com/, and by this guy http://b.dlsite.net/RG14809/ are usually fun games. This guy makes some interesting but fucking weird games.
http://sfemycats.tumblr.com/

Seinaru mono e is a really good game in that it's one of a handful of games I've played that feels like an actual full game. http://www.dlsite.com/maniax/work/=/product_id/RJ132648.html It's actually difficult too, in a not impossible, badly programmed bullshit way.

Yurikago no Sora is an excellent little game that I can't believe wasn't translated. I believe it came out at C88. It feels like it should be more popular than it is.

It's an action RPG about some animal lolis living in an underground society who go on a quest to find the the sky. The sky is just a legend, but the kids believe it must be real after the protagonist's mother suddenly disappears, leaving behind a note saying she was going to find the sky.

The gameplay involves the lolis following each other around and occasionally helping the main character you play as do stuff. The sprites are pretty expressive but they're also kinda small so I think it take away from the detail. Thin might be a better word? They're like somewhere between cute anime and those 1 pixel thick limbs type pixel art characters. I like the fighting system in the game which involves setting skills you want to use to a combination of the direction buttons and action keys. As you level, you get more skills but the skills differ more in function than power. This functionality is augmented by the weapons, which have power, speed, and length values. There are skills which grow in power with slower weapons, skills that are easier to chain with faster weapons, and the range to them is impacted by weapon range, so you can choose whatever play style you want. I tended to use faster medium ranged weapons myself. You can also upgrade weapons later on in the game, with each having a different maximum upgrade potential. You don't really need the drop items that aren't equipment for any reason but collecting and a few side quests, so you can sell them without worrying about losing it and just max out your favorite weapons asap. Your damage also grows based on the number of hits you've comboed so it's worth putting skills together with the idea of making combos of them. The weapons themselves are all kinds of objects: Rice scoops, vegetable graters, fence poles, tea kettles, cardboard panes. It's pretty funny sometimes.

Being in Japanese, it's very important to read to be able to do the sidequests, but it shouldn't impede you finishing the game maybe. The story is nice however. I feel towards the end some of their ideas got jumbled up, but it's not like it completely falls apart or anything. Natsume, the fox is really an annoying character to me though, because of her childishness, but that's part of the game. The protagonist, Kuunya, is also the silent type, so Natsume tends to talk for her when actual words need to be said. She's a brash and confrontational child however, even though she's the oldest of the bunch.(She's 10 and the MC is 8) Toto, the winged one, is a more calm and reasonable child, despite being 7. Natusme and Toto provide support by carrying Kuunya when commanded. Natsume runs quickly and up steep hills, while Toto can fly just a little bit and extends your jumps with a slow descent.

I like the effect of the world map, which fills in details as you visit new places. There's not really much I dislike about this game except the size of the sprites and how annoying certain enemies are. I dislike being eaten by the pitcher plant things because it reminds me of vore scenes in ryona games. This game has the cutest game over screen by the way. I really think more people should play it. It'd definitely be all over /v/ and /vg/ if it were in english.

There's not really much else I can say about it without revealing the story, but it is a cute and pure game about lolis and one of my favorite doujin games.

I do think the secret items and levels aspect falls a little to into the "need to buy a strategy guide to even know" area, and that the game is a bit unbalanced with items and might be a little more "janky" than "hard". It's definitely a creative theme though, using those ancient creatures, and they have nice, large sprites to show them off.

Nonet Concerto and Nonet Concerto Distortion are a pair of interesting games made by Photon System. http://photonsystem.com/
These in particular are kind of like Earth Defense Force, but with magical girls. They're not as fun as DynaMarisa 3D, but there's something about them that I like. The effects seem magical, as they should, and it kinda fills that niche of a game where you play as a magical girl that I've been looking to fill. There are lots of games about magical girls, but they're STG or platformers or something like that usually. It's something about the pacing and effects that I like.

You go on a series of missions, whose difficulties you can select. You collect magic stones after killing enemies which provide you with abilities to equip. You can merge these stones into more powerful spells or even different spells. There are also accessories you occasionally obtain which can augment your character. You can choose either sister to play as, and they seem to have netplay capabilities so you can play with both with a friend, but I've never used it.

The games are a bit slow paced and can be repetitive, and the characters are low poly but I like that kind of doujin/amateur quality feel to the graphics. You can easily see up the characters' skirts if you're into that. You equip a magic ability to the left and right mouse buttons, and you can do a melee attack instead if you don't have one equipped to the button. There's also a special attack that charges up that you can activate by clicking both buttons. You move with the keyboard. Japanese reading is required to understand what the stones do and combine them, but you can probably figure it out by messing around.

I think they're worth checking out, although I understand if you don't enjoy them.

You go around as Vita-chan of Hotglue fame and fuck shit up while trying not to get fucked yourself. I don't remember the gameplay exactly, other than it being an ero action platformer and that you have to be careful in the way you collect power ups, but it's been updated a lot and seems like it may be updated again soon. I may just redownload it myself if possible and try it out again. I do have good memories of the game being fun, and so I want to bring it up so that other people will know about it. So, to go on more about Repure Aria,
http://repureria.blog.fc2.com/
http://www.dlsite.com/maniax/work/=/product_id/RJ102967.html
It's a really popular game, and for good reason. It's one of the most complete doujin ero or non ero games I've played.
There's lots of gameplay, exploration, secrets, and whatnot. It's a platformer, a "metroidvania" where you play as a guy who gets the ability to shift into 3 women. The guy himself can't fight, while the three girls can. The gameplay involves mostly shooting long range attacks and features a lot of wall jumping to the point of it being one of the game's gimmicks. Each of the girls has a different type of power and alignment. Enemies also have alignment, so using the girls or fucking the enemies changes your alignment which is used in several things, such as unlocking certain doors.

Fucking the enemies also has a chance to drop items based on the enemy that you can equip to change the attacks, defenses, and a few other stats of your characters. Some just directly provide support. The fucking mechanics are really important to the game, draining first your semen and then your HP. You'll die if you run out of HP, but the game is easy and has lots of heal and save points. The bosses are mostly the only real danger. Most of the enemies are straight humanoid females, and so will only sexually assault the guy, sometimes going passive or hostile if you're female. Conversely, some are passive or submissive if you're male rather than running straight for your dick. Some are the same either way. Have sex with them may or may not defeat them. A lot will just calm down temporarily. Bosses generally involve some combination of sex and attacking. While you're a girl you're generally safe from sex, at the cost of being aggressively attacked, but when they girl's lifebar is depleted, you turn back to a male. Also while you're a male, the girl you're set to transform into will comment on what's happening while you're having sex.

The enemies are recorded in an encyclopedia after you defeat/have sex with them in the early monstergirl fad kind of way. Most of the females themselves would count as monstergirls but they generally stick to being almost completely human in appearance, unlike other games. Having sex isn't always as easy as being a male. There are sometimes other things you have to figure out. The first thing is you have a horniness gauge. This declines when you're female or in a hot spring, but raises when you're male and anything remotely erotic is happening. It usually has to be above a certain point to interact with the enemies, but some will just rape him on contact. Passive enemies require him to be hard though. When the bar is high enough, it becomes hard for the already slow male to move due to having a massive boner. The meter won't go past a certain point without masturbating though. Different enemies have different levels of effect on him, and this effect varies based on his distance. For example, a enemy might be clothed, but attacking it destroys its clothes(or it might take its clothes off itself) and makes the male aroused. The male might be kind of aroused by titties across the room, but go up really high if he's right next to them. Enemies also have an arousal value of sorts, which is generally 0 if the character isn't a male and 100 if he is. There are exceptions though. A couple of bisexual or lesbian monsters, and a few that you have to actually make aroused before you can have sex with. Some of them can be bypassed by making them even hornier by masturbating in front of them.

The thing I like most in this game is how when your semen sprays out, be it through masturbation or attack, if it doesn't go inside of something, it goes flying. It can hit the walls, floors, or ceiling and leave an effect. You can cover certain statues in it. You can hit enemies in the face with it and the'll have semen on their heads from then on(this can also happen if one of them jacks you off and another enemy is standing nearby when your semen flies out). You can even knock out the small fairies in some areas(same as in >>19470061) by hitting them with your semen from jacking off, if you can time it right(they can hit you with vines from a range to tie you up, so it's kind of hard.).

What I do dislike is some of the object graphics don't look that great and that the artist's drawings look way better with outlines, but neither the small sprites nor the large portraits have outlines. They also rely on a really low amount of frames for the sex which can look weird if you stare at them in detail. The masturbation of the female PCs is also kind of strange looking in part because of this and in part because of their postures. The sound isn't that great either. I also dislike the long story segments that happen sometime, but the CGs are okay. I also mentioned the creator has a piss fetish. This doesn't show up except about twice, one only happens in one area if you are a certain female and get caught by the enemies. The other is an unavoidable giant "boss" who basically only exists to piss everywhere and the goal is to let it piss on you. This isn't a dislike, but there's also some food that you can buy that are completely unnecessary in the sense of you can completely ignore it. I also dislike the more monstergirl type enemies without human vaginas but what're you gonna do.

I'm pretty sure it's been translated into some level of english by the ulmf people (who generally can't even speak Japanese as well as /jp/, and you know how /jp/ is, so I don't know how that turned out) so you can look up the translation of it if you don't want to play it in Japanese. You really should play this game if you somehow haven't though. It's one of a few porn games that are both sufficiently porn and game.

I don't think the spell naming mechanic is used enough in things (really only Rudra no Hihou comes to mind https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treasure_of_the_Rudras))

I never finished it because I got kinda bored near the end but I might go back and complete it.

I played this game briefly but got a refund. It wasn't very fun and the spell making felt too gimmicky. Gensowanderer is really the only mystery dungeon game I've been able to sink a lot of time into and have fun.

I even played this https://store.steampowered.com/app/836760/Sorcery_Saga_Curse_of_the_Great_Curry_God/ but was mostly let down with how basic everything was.

Hey, I hate to bother you but recently I discovered Labyrinth of Touhou 2 and I have some questions. I knew what Touhou is for a very long time but never got into it. But I absolutely love the gameplay of LoT2. Somehow the Japanese are just much better at gameplay design.

Anyway, apparently there is a Plus Disk. Is the Plus Disk with translation available somewhere?

I also heard good things about Touhou Puppet Dance Performance and Touhou Soujinengi V: The Genius of Sappherios. Should I give them a try and are they fully translated?

Black Maria Overdrive by Y-Cubed http://ycubed.web.fc2.com/ is a fun, but short game. You play as a girl with a big lance and boost around hitting things with it, as well as maneuver around stages. I really, really like the game play and boss fights in it. There's not really much to talk about or even discuss with this game however, but I really think anyone who hasn't played it should try it out. I think there was a speed error with the base game, so make sure you patch it up if you don't download the latest version.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyATGbagZA0

Asides from that, I've noticed no one's brought up the Ghost/Hack series by Black Bastard. http://wahiko94.at-ninja.jp/
There used to be a couple guys really into it who were even helping the creator translate it. I wonder whatever happened to that. I don't really like them, so I can't talk about them, but they're like Metal Gear Solid combined with fallout and some other sci fi references in a weird 2D but 3D world, and feature protagonists who look like lolis but are really traps. Come to think of it, there was some newer 3D one where you could dress up the MC but I haven't heard anyone talking about that either.

Here's a trailer of one and gameplay footage of another anyway
