How's the revenge played out in that game? I like revenge themed eroge, but I don't like if the MC just abuse his 'cheat' power without any repercussions or never using an iote of his brain to plan the revenge like in almost every revenge themed eroge with mind control element in it, or raping and hurting girls indiscriminately without checking whether they are really wronged MC out of malice or not, especially that girl on that screenshot. From what I get when looking at the promotional videos, she doesn't seems like doing the fake confession by her own will, is there an ending where MC make her an accomplice to his revenge plan and promising payback to whoever forced her to do it, or MC relents on his rape/abuse and makes the girl think that MC is not as bad as he looks like?

Why does this game have a fairly good rating? Are the routes good? It didn't start too badly, but then turned into utter shit and is actually quite a bit worse than Nankoi by the same writer, which was way less well received.
I don't like to just skip common, but with this shit quality, if the routes are actually fine, I just may. It's not like such a thing never happened before.

Pic related had an utterly awful common route that I essentially skipped until this blondie appeared, more or less at least. Her route was quite enjoyable, and I didn't miss anything from before.

Natsumegu had a really bad prologue/common part at first with a really awful main heroine that I ended up skipping because I was just fed up. There were several good routes however, and one girl's route even made me like said really awful main heroine. Even said main heroine's route ended up enjoyable. I didn't want to play that one, but the game made me. It was weird. Literally chose a girl every time I could and got a totally different route..

Apart of that (which there's more of), there's enough reason for me to believe, why the routes could be better. The main issues the game has for me shouldn't be in the routes.

Sounds like all of those are connected to you just liking one heroine, and thus the routes that focus on one on one interactions versus the more open common is more enjoyable to you. I don't know those games but I heavily doubt they suddenly turn from trash to good and it's the aforementioned reason why it makes you think so. I have never seen a game go from "I want to skip this" to "I'm really glad I read this over something else" personally and am of the opinion that you can tell fairly early on whether the game is for you or not.

No, Natsumegu wasn't like that. I continued, because Watanabe wrote a route, but the reason can be anything. You obviously do have a reason to continue, otherwise you wouldn't do that.

Other than that, I've seen that A LOT of eroge have a shitty beginning, so I don't like to judge too early. Koisora is a different thing though, as I didn't dislike the first few chapters. It's obviously not ideal if that happens, but a lot of things I ended up liking quite a bit had a very slow and/or not that interesting start. And in extreme cases even stuff like Natsumegu can happen.

A bit of a reason for why this often happens is because the writers tend to suck at introducing things. Maybe they just dump all heroines on you one by one in awkward situations as if they try to sell them to you (which they probably do try, because it's also the start of the trial), or they infodump the whole history of the setting's town and school on you, as if you actually cared about that when you know absolutely nothing about the story and characters yet. Or maybe they were asked to write some silly setting and then had to somehow try to make it feel not as dumb.. which tends to fail anyway.
Usually all of that goes away after a few hours, and after that the work can feel completely different. It will most likely not be a 10/10, but hey. Those don't exist anyway.

I would call bullshit if MC is a good person after living in such environment with mind reading ability to boot. I can sympathize with him if he retaliates only on those that wronged him, I can even tolerate one or two 'collaterals' if the girls are in his way or necessary for the revenge plan, but MC focusing his hatred on someone that doesn't deserve it feels like a waste of energy.

Too late. If you liked Zanma Taisen you'll probably like Kishin Hishou.
It has some really clunky gameplay segments though that I can't imagine have aged well. Also unless it's had a recent rerelease, you'll need to find an exe with the Alpharom completely stripped out as the version it uses is completely incompatible with x64 machines.

Seriously, just use text hooking. That works in 95% of all pure VN cases without a problem, though it can be annoying if there are a ton of choices and/or duplicated text. For gameplay stuff, extracting the script is the only way to go. But for pure VNs, you can skip through everything.

There's no 100% accurate script anyway, so don't think too much about this. For some idea for yourself, hooking is by far the fastest and easiest method.

You didn't play very far, huh? The battle system has a very neat "the stronger the enemy is, the stronger you are" system that works way better than it probably should be. Also thanks to some rather broken seeming abilities (full party revive), that however are anything but broken if you play a little bit, you get the tools to hopefully survive even the most absurd looking abilities that just party wipe the living crap out of you without some care. The game has a lot of really well designed boss fights, while the dungeons rewards a little bit of exploration very well. It does exactly what you'd expect of any good rpg, with plenty of nice (and scary) things to find.

The game has some issues, but those are definitely not in the dungeons or battles. Sure, if you like more complex and mazy dungeons, zaku zaku isn't going to be your thing, but that has nothing to do with the dungeons being good or bad. It's just a good game that shows really well, what you can do with something that is, at its core, fairly basic.
And most people do agree with that, as far as I've seen so far. Though I admit that says nothing, especially with rpg maker stuff. I once played the best rated rpg maker game on steam at that time, and it was the kinda shit where you find a secret and get the same gold as one random encounter gives you, and some weapon you can buy in some town you already were for little money. Aka shit.

Look. Everyone knows that Hinoue is an awful artst. The game you posted isn't even from the 2000s, but whatever.

Most early 2000s VNs don't look that bad. The shading can be a little fllat, and you'll occasionally run into a really shittily drawn scene, but they're not too bad overall; barring a few exceptions like Key or Eien no Aselia. It's not like commercial companies from other time periods are immune either; look at Dies irae or White Album 2, for example. Bad art is always going to exist, even in the highest echelons of the medium. There's no reason to complain about one era having more of it than another.
