Pretty much one guy is doing the hacking for all of the Alicesoft games too. After fixing up whatever bug reports he got from Evenicle, he has to work on scripting and doing post beta fixes for Sengoku. The earliest plausible release time is summer 2019, and that's if Sengoku releases this winter. Don't forget that Sengoku is a sandbox game and Rance Quest Magnum is just plain huge.

On the plus side, 01, IX, and 03 should be straight forward enough as all are linear enough and not quite as big as Rance Quest Magnum. Unfortunately for MG, Rance X is pretty much dwarfs everything else they have released. I wouldn't be surprised if that game was stuck for a year in just scripting and beta testing.

>> No.18876014

>>18875732
Fun fact, the script of Rance X is 8.4MB. That's not counting for anything like tag names or code, just plain script.
Clannad's script is 3.16MB. Fate/Stay Night's script is 3.85MB.

Not just that, it's one of the biggest eroge released, ever. Ridiculously big. I agree that it would probably take a year in scripting and beta testing.

>> No.18876031

>>18876023
It's THE biggest eroge ever released. And considering its size, I doubt it will be surpassed in one or two decades, even longer if the production of long eroges becomes rarer.

Don't forget that in addition to its large size, it happens to have gacha elements. Double checking if every card that is supposed to drop actually drops and checking if all of the ticket scenes work properly on top of that will be hell. Cheat engine arguably can't help because you have to check if it works naturally.

>> No.18876870

>> No.18876897

>>18876014
I don't think it's fair to compare scripts by file size. There can be a lot of variance in the amount of padding, and especially with Rance I heard a lot of it is copy pasted.

>> No.18877245

>>18876897
If anything file size is the most accurate measure for scripts. Regardless of whether part of it is copypasted, it's still text that the reader has to go through. It's not like a lot of text from Clannad for example is exactly relevant, but the reader still goes through them. And the amount of unique text in Rance is still enormous. Almost everyone I know has taken 120-150 hours to get just the True Ending, although obviously there's also the gameplay, but even then most players are far from done with the game.

>> No.18877529

>>18876897
In Rance X itself, there's very little copy paste, at least based on what the game considered previously read text on a replay. The ending quite a few similar scenes are copy pasted, but it's otherwise very rare. At most the copy pasted text is 10% of the text, which still makes the amount of unique text very massive.

>> No.18877816

>>18877529
Literally every single H scene in most Alicesoft games is copy pasted, one version for in game, one version for the gallery. Very little copy paste my fucking ass.

>> No.18877842

>>18877816
And I only say most because I haven't looked at any past the Escalayer remake. It's 100% in the ones I have looked at. Some scenes are copy pasted 4-5 times, and the scripts have included dummied out text that isn't accessible in any way whatsoever. Especially the earlier you go (Daiakuji and Daibanchou) have entire scenarios that aren't accessible in any way, but exist as text in the script.

The 8.4mb file from Rance 10 has duplicate lines cut. It's the text extracted from the data file with all the excess code, nametags, and duplicate lines stripped. The only remaining content is the raw text of the script. About half a meg or something of it is content not used in the main game (cut scenes and the rough draft) but the vast bulk of it is actually used in scenes that all exist in the game. The game is just that big.

Not many changes this week as Magical Marriage Lunatics is still 1st, Sideboob Story is still 2nd and it's now over 2 months in the Top 5 weekly chart (ever since pre-order on February 21st).
Fallen ~Makina and the City of Ruins on 3rd place and still on the chart ever since release, people really are starved for gameplay titles aren't they?
Newcomer to the chart is Desecration of Wings, looks like one of those titles that you make in RPG Maker.

The question though is why it was delayed. If it hadn't gone through QC and was going to be another Leyline or Hoshimemo then a delay is probably for the best (although that is something they should have figured out before announcing a February release date). A second possibility that comes to mind is perhaps someone (Sekai, Sayori, or Smile) made some last minute changes about how they wanted to release it, perhaps changing to something like how Tropical Liquor was released (when Sekai was teasing a February release they were also treating it as a Denpa exclusive and not mentioning it with the main Sekai Twitter).

I've read Koikuma and I can see that they most likely are having a technical nightmare cutting all the H-scenes from it and trying to make the steam all ages version work properly, they most likely are going to make a paid patch for it too.

It's a straight up nukige and there's a H-scene in the very first 10 minutes or so, just imagine something like MangaGamer putting Ultimate Boob Wars all ages edition on steam.

Funny how the all ages version delays the release for months and it has so much more work put into it than the 18+ version, yet it's always cheaper.

Didn't really impress me. Sure, there's a high amount of CG, which means plenty of variants and different expressions - though it's pretty subtle most of the time - but what's there just didn't stack up to the best of my eroge faps. In terms of things like angling, positioning, the fetishes represented, the facial expressions, and the way that the artist drew bodies - nothing particularly clicked with me to an extraordinary deal. I still got off to a few scenes, but primarily because I liked the characters enough, which is more-or-less bog standard as far as most eroge go; pretty sure everyone has managed to squeeze one out to garbage artwork because they liked the characters enough.

I especially don't like how boring the artist's facial expressions were outside of a few scenes, pretty substandard and not very interesting. The way that Cura draws bodies is a bit too hard for my liking as well; all his angles have this sort've solid aesthetic about them and none of the girls looked particularly soft, the boobs and areola? Standard. The areola especially just don't look erotic enough for me, where's the volume? The boobs are typical circles with no real softness to their aesthetics most of the time. The asses are only saved in a few scenes by optimal angling, which even shit-tier artists can pull off. Another thing, too, is the lack of impactful visual communication in regards to the action being committed - there's a vagina and a dick going inside that vagina, but aside from that and the facial expressions, the action is pretty static; nothing like crease marks from grabbing onto their girl (and when there are, they are usually too subtle to matter), very little amount of shifting movement or things to represent shifting movement. Just very plain stuff, which is disappointing given how many CGs the scenes will use per scene, games with a much lesser budget do more than what Monobeno provides in that regard.

Just my opinion.

Ah, one more thing that really sealed the deal of mediocrity in regards to the H: the voice acting. There are loads of great voice actors in Monobeno, and some of them have been in a few of my favorite nukige, but many of them turn in fairly mediocre performances. The voice direction just feels plain and not really inspired - gave me a feeling of, "We're here to say our sex lines and go home." I figured maybe I was just not feeling it that day, but I later read Maitetsu and got more-or-less the same opinion. I don't know if the voice director was consistent through both titles, but it seems like Lose don't really care for extracting great performances in regards to the H, which is a real shame. It's serviceable, but these voice actors are capable of far better than what they turned in for both titles. My memory is a bit fuzzy, though, so perhaps it's a bit better than what I'm recalling.

Not particularly. Ahegao and rape are fine, but I love good vanilla as well.

As far as lolicon artwork goes, I'm more of a fan of something like santa's artwork in 通心ぼ, which is very soft and anatomically more pleasing to me than Cura's artwork - santa can actually draw a face in profile properly. He also does a lot more, with less, in my opinion.

Perhaps a better overall example, though (in a similar sort've hard-colored style) would be Shintaro's artwork in はるるみなもに! That's about as "dull moege" as it gets, but the artwork is, in my opinion, some of the most erotic vanilla artwork ever drawn for a moege. Everything has this clear weightiness and soft feeling to it - there's also a lot more impact going on visually, more interaction and stuff; the belly and thighs get played with, the vulva gets teased, the areola and nipples get harder as the girl gets more aroused, the hands actually sink decently into the flesh when they need to - there's even a clear physical difference in regards to when the dick goes into the vagina. Of course, はるるみなもに! is also less heavy on the censorship than Monobeno is, but still. It's that kind of attention to detail that Shintaro provides that Cura lacks.

It's funny at times, but also depressing since it touches on issues of self-loathing and alienation from society. The game also introduces several prostitute characters and brings up child prostitution.

The society in the game is more screwed up the more you find out about it. It's a sci-fi setting, but I think there's hints of the supernatural as well.

They've put out demos for sakura sakura and newton and the apple tree. Sakura sakura's demo was not super great, but they promised they would improve the quality for the official release. Newton's demo was pretty good, and had uncensored art, unlike sakura sakura. Both titles have an honorifics toggle, which is I think a first for a translated VN.

A yotsunoha demo has been promised shortly, so we'll have a better idea how that will look.

Chuusotsu is a very odd VN. It's technically all ages, but could've easily been made 18+ with all the stuff that happens in the VN. None of the lewd events have CGs.

- Flirty lesbians, where the Onee-sama buys the kouhai a butt plug tail.

- Background cast includes prostitutes.

- Not actual child prostitute runs a dildo over the MC's panties, then acts like she's going to rape her with said dildo.

HOLY HELL, I totally forgot about this visual novel, wasn't this supposed to be released in 2016?
What a dumpster fire and they got almost 200k $ for it.
Frontwing really is Sekai Project 2.0, kickstart everything possible and delay it for years.

As someone who just buys the digital DRM free version only once it's released I really can't understand people who back one kickstarter after another despite almost all of them being delayed for years.
Even if you take away the delays you're still left with a questionable translation quality, mosaics and by the time you get your physical edition, the visual novel is already 50-60% discounted on steam or worse bundled like Root Double.

Probably the most blatant pricing issue with KS was when Sekai released Hoshimemo on release week for 10% cheaper than its backing amount for the base game. That was an extra dumbass move. I expected more out of them, even as little as I expect from them.

Sekai getting Muv Luv is reason enough to never back a huge VN kickstarter ever again at least for me. Though, at least Muv Luv didn't quite turn out like the disaster that was Dies Irae. Not even the Tsukihime remake could make me back a kickstarter unless it was MG or maybe JAST if I didn't mind waiting an extra decade.

Moenovel went with price in between Cross Channel and A Sky Full of Stars for Umikana for a retail price of $12.99. They also seem to be trying to tie it in with IMMHW and A Sky Full of Stars, advertising it as part of a "Coming-of-Age Collection" and making a Steam bundle under that name including the three titles.

The title has thus far peaked at 15 concurrent users, compared to A Sky Full of Star's all time peak of 73 concurrent users and Cross Channel's peak of 13 concurrent users. The same achievement method that applied to Cross Channel looks to be working here as well thanks to a number of achievements and currently limited sales. Thus far using the achievement method and finding the exact value that works for the full set of data (see https://pastebin.com/JNADirmn ) suggests that it had (times Eastern) 54 owners at 3:30AM, 73 owners at 10:00AM, and 87 owners at 2:00pm. That said, these numbers would not give the full picture if there is some set of sales which do not show up in the Global Steam achievements, however in light of no large change to Cross Channel after the privacy switch, it does seem to include private accounts within its data.

Just as an aside, Cross Channel currently works out to be 338 owners using the same method.

People die when they are killed makes more sense in context, but it still technically incorrect. Literally, it should be "People die when a lethal amount of force is applied to them," but that's not exactly as direct and to the point. Personally, I'd do:

Chaos;Child's adaptation was garbage and it's been shown before that Steins;Gate's popularity doesn't quite carry the other titles sales-wise in the west, yet it sold quite well and it would sell way more if it got ported to Steam already.

The Cuckoldkugai remake would sell well on Steam.

You need to consider regular unknown plotge like fata morgana or sorcery jokers. Which definitely sold like crap.

What's the harm is people making patches based on their preferences? If anything it's a huge step up from people who bitch about things and then do nothing, hoping someone else will do all the work. These people are passionate and motivated enough to do something about it. Their work might not be worthy of praise, but it sure as hell isn't worthy of mockery either.

Keep doing your thing Yuuki autist. I don't particularly care about your patches, but you have my respect for being willing to take action for what you believe in.

It's an objective fact that changing Luce to Luci is like changing her name to Beverly. If we have our linguist friend here, he was talking all about vowel quality and quantity last time.

They can call people dumb as much as they want. I just don't think it's worthy of mockery as I stated. It makes the mockers look resentful for no reason.

What do they want people to do? Complain and then do nothing? Is that the better alternative? Taking action for what you believe in is always better in my mind. If someone is going to be called stupid, or a no-life, or whatever else because they actually did something for a hobby they are passionate about, then I'm going to be right there to say, "fuck those guys, keep doing your thing". That's exactly what I did with my first comment. Consider is a pat on the back to counterbalance the heckling from the peanut gallery.

Fata Morgana is still selling and if I remember correctly did sell around 8k so far. I would consider anything that sells beyond 6k for smaller VN's a success due to it not being popular or having an anime Adaptation. It's a good example that there is a market out there if people are willing to try to do something new in the genre.

Indeed that is an actual change. Luci is a variant form, so I don't think it's the same as changing it to Beverly; but Luce is in use in English as a given name and surname so I'm not sure why it would be changed. It's uncommon though so maybe they thought people wouldn't know how to pronounce it or something.

In English that is not remotely the same thing. There's no point explaining it, though.
