I'm trying to transfer from keyboard to controller(P1 side)in LR2. It's pretty fun but there seems to be more muscle memory to learn I was able to skip on keyboard. I'm trying to learn 1048 and my natural instinct for hitting both 1 and 3 is to Taka S. it and hit both with the length of my left hand's thumb. This seems to work reasonably fine for 1 and 3, though I wonder if it wouldn't be better to learn to alternate to using right thumb since doing that on left hand has a tendency to have to make me stretch my hand just a -bit- further which, I theorize, could potentially, though probably wouldn't, hurt scratching, so I was wondering if anyone thinks it wouldn't be a better idea to switch to trying to use right thumb to hit both 3 and 5 during scratches. Thoughts?

Also, due to the thumb coming straight up from below on right hand, it doesn't seem like I can effectively Taka S. a 3 5 situation. So I was considering maybe doing a regular thumb switch for 3 and 5 as needed, and presumably I would also learn to hit 4 and 5 with my right's index finger and being able to Taka S. that one and hit both with the length of the index finger which I could actually due with this positioning, in the situation where I needed to hit scratch 1 3 4 and 5 all at the same time. Reasonable?

Am I right in thinking I should try practicing easier songs in a quasi-permanent scratching position? My biggest problem right now is learning how to deal with intense scratching and learning how to do certain patterns with scratching. I stopped at IIDX 11's on keyboard, and quickly rose to 10's in about a week; except for the part where I get rekt by parts with lots of scratching. Presumably I need more time to learn more muscle memory and adjust my ingrained patterns? What do?

i always played controller, 1p. i had to drill myself so hard to learn 1048 that i developed the habit of wristscratching, because as you said yourself, theres no good way to cover scratch+3+5 playing 1048. but wristscratching like that has taken me pretty goddamn far, i can clear just about anything that way, and top-tier players like RAG play that way anyway. but since theres such a stigma about wrist scratching, right now im trying to drill myself into learning symmetrical, because handshots i've seen of people better than me show them playing symmetrical on sections of songs that throw constant scratch+intense chord streams.

in regards to taka s, for myself, i've never been able to use my left thumb to cover 3 unless its a slow part of the song, and i really, really, focus. covering 3 with right thumb for me, comes natural. sounds like its the opposite for you. i would just embrace what is natural for you.

for scratch+1,3,4,5, i also use my index (sometimes right ring gets involved) for something like this, but not out of drilling it into my style, rather out of sheer instinct. this is the only way my brain lets me hit such a thing. i dont even realize i'm doing it, its just the only way i can hit such a chord.

also, one of my rivals has played for so long, he can play anything 1048. even something like plan 8. if you just retard-brute-force yourself, your pinky will stretch that far. probably not good for your health in the long run, or maybe requires special genetics, but its possible, i've seen it.

So i've just gotten back from japan with all their up to date rhythm games, and as i was failing on the newer boss songs in DDR i questioned myself

Is it even possible to get into IIDX at this point? The songs are so damn hard now. Is there still even entry points before my SOWS ratio crashes and burns as i dump 700 into a DJ DAO controller?

I recently picked up DJ Max respect, and i'm struggling with the 6 button with my miku controller. I can't do much over a 6-star. Should I just give it up and stick to what I know?

It's actually way easier now because of the abundance of songs to choose from. Previously the difficult wall was so hard because there weren't many "tweener" charts with patterns from harder difficulties but still a generally easier chart.

Now there are so many songs and charts the curve is a lot smoother than it used to be and it's a lot easier to progress naturally rather than being forced to grind songs you can't play( albiet this is still in the game somewhat)

IIDX is really easy to get into if you have experience with other rhythm games.
I came from SDVX and aside from the initial controller learning it's been smooth sailing to level 10s so far.
Also newer charts are generally way easier than old stuff that's rated as the same level, so stick to the latest styles for a while if you end up trying it.

If you're going to go as far to say that different play styles are cheating you may as well just say that all play styles are not comparable to eachother since they have a variety of effects on gameplay and that all scores should only be compared to other scores that are played the exact same way, e.g. Taka S. hidden player should only be compared to other Taka S hidden players. The gameplay experience is different for everyone and saying a play style is cheating just because it's slightly easier to learn(but still extremely difficult to master)is the dumbest shit ever. I seriously think there must be a significant number of people who contribute to this kind of backwards thinking just so they can talk shit on or look down on people and foster divisiveness within the community. This kind of attitude is one kind of thing that has helped caused the underlying currents of elitism that I'm sure many rhythm gamers that've been around the block have seen.

^ this. Pretty much the only people who unironically shit on wrist scratching etc. are scrubs and anonymous shitposters on places like 2ch.

Speaking of, if you think elitism in the non-JP IIDX community is bad, be thankful you don't know about JP/KOR community elitism. Stalking peoples' play histories and shitting on players for their job history and alma mater is the norm for places like 2ch (across the board too, not just for IIDX).

If anything, elitism in our DDR/ITG/"Dance Game" communities is worse than in our IIDX community. Nothing new though, it's been that way historically and will continue to be.

Lighter ones require less stamina and the 100 costs a tiny bit less. You're probably gonna want either 25 or 50.

It's very easy to mod your controller. Doesn't require much to open it and mess with the insides and customizing how it looks is merely printing something and changing the overlay.

Go into data/graphic and swap (whateveryouwanttochange)00.ifs with the corresponding ifs file you want to replace it with. I.E. To get a small notebeam you'd replace beam00.ifs with beam06.ifs I believe. The only thing you can't replace is the noteburst, it crashed the game when you try to swap it for some reason.

I think the network politics is something that is far more prevalent in the minds of those involved with the development. It'd be much nicer if we could all be on the same system, but obviously there's a conflict of interest here.

From my personal experience - there's a lot of bad blood involved between key members of both services (and sows as a whole - this isn't a UK exclusive thing). In SDVX the knobs kind of "snap" to the lasers if you're moving the right direction - in-game it feels very much like the track is magnetic. If you're moving the wrong direction they'll kind of "pop" off the track and you lose points, but the game is a bit tolerant of tiny errors doing this.

By doing fast, tiny wiggles, the knob snaps to the lane when he's moving the right direction, but he doesn't move the knob enough to pop it off the lane when he's going the wrong direction.

To elaborate on what I said, while IIDX has full key-sounding, nothing about the keys that are assigned has any rhythmical coherency whatsoever. The song is literally just cut into pieces and arbitrarily assigned to the keys, and of course the turntable, a fucking 2-way input pile of shit that does nothing but handicap you, especially when you compete against players on BMS. You use an inferior input device to play the same game. At this point, it does nothing better than DJMAX except maybe the soundtrack.

On the hand, SDVX actually has a lot of songs that fit perfectly within the theme of the inputs, and they feel great to play. It actually feels like you're actually doing some kind of real input to the game. The controller is also perfectly designed, and I don't see people with keyboards outperforming anyone.

>> No.17667841

>>17667770
>while IIDX has full key-sounding, nothing about the keys that are assigned has any rhythmical coherency whatsoever.
Disagree. There's a small handful of charts where the keys assigned clearly do not match the sound pattern assigned; two examples I can think of immediately are Wish with its scratching mapped to key presses and Contract which has a single note trill mapped to a chromatic scale pattern. Beyond that, there are very few examples I can think of in IIDX where the defined charting doesn't in some kind of way match with the sound of the music. In most songs, the bass drum is key 1, snare rolls are 3 and 5 if not 1 3 5 7 for 16th note rolls, and so on. There are general consistencies throughout the songs and their charts.

Meanwhile, SDVX never feels like you're actually doing some kind of real input to the game because it's not keysounded. As soon as you stop pressing anything and hear the song continue to play regardless, you realize that what you're doing is just pointless busywork.

Why do you feel the need to keep posting this? You just got btfo'd by /v/ of all boards

Except nobody competes against players on BMS because people with brains (something you apparently lack) know it's pointless to compare performances on different input devices. Also all Bemani games are meant to be played on their respective arcade cabinet or arcade style controller, not a keyboard.

>nothing about the keys that are assigned has any rhythmical coherency whatsoever. The song is literally just cut into pieces and arbitrarily assigned to the keys
So the exact same thing as SDVX except the latter is not even keysounded and anything can go anywhere.

>SDVX actually has a lot of songs that fit perfectly within the theme of the inputs
And this severely harmed the music variety of it because "songs that fit the theme of the inputs" translates to really obnoxious EDM trash ad infinitum.

But in summary, you're butthurt that some keyboard players are doing better at IIDX than you. Consider offing your miserable existence, good bait, got me, etc.

stick with museca you barely have to turn the buttons , the technique to get them to register a spin while basically hitting them like normal is simple to master . you just "put a little english on it" as they say.

>> No.17671081

>>17670959
yeah and then you break the top of the spinner off like every other fuckass has done to the musecas at r1

do everyone a favor and stay at home if you can't play without destroying things, the japs already hate us enough

>> No.17671329

>>17671081
It's actually a simple fix and not even a "break." Museca's button design was shitty, basically all the turning eventually loosens the single screw holding the button in place.
It's a super simple 10-minute fix. I've done it plenty of times, R1 techs are lazy.
