A number of practical reasons that would hamper any project like this. Like, where are electric and water coming from? Clean water can be obtained somewhat easily, but electric is a whole other ball game. Then there's food , which brings up the question of oh yeah are we actually letting the government know we're doing this or are we just sneaking into some remote place and squatting? Because the former would be expensive as shit, and the latter would be hard as fuck.

Not to mention, the whole point of going to Japan would be to see the people and that culture, wouldn't it? Not to hang out with a bunch of weebs, you could do that in your home country.

>> No.12547073

I was really interested in that gaijin farm thing that was proposed several months back, but I've yet to hear anything more of that.

It seemed ideal living in rural Japan doing an honest living where you literally sell the fruits of your labor while also getting time to go out and interact with the Japanese and maintain friendly relationships with locals.

I'd be up for this if we had a source of clean water. Thirty Neckbeards could clean up the streets, make necessary repairs to buildings, and begin growing crops to sell to nearby villages.

Even without power, it would be a wonderfully simple existence. No rent, no taxes, no job, other than simply doing what needs to be done around town.

>> No.12547221

Everyone would need to bring a certain amount of cash, probably no less than 20k yen per person, to cover start up costs such as building supplies, initial crop seeds, food to eat until crops come up etc.

But for me, getting to live the life of a mountain peasant would be well worth it. The fresh air, the tall grass, the backwoods trails. We would eventually reach out to neighboring villages for women, maybe, but I could die happy up there.

Just move to Detroit instead. It's similarly abandoned and left to rot, and those few remaining young people whose families stuck around wear cute uniforms like the Japanese students do. It's in the midwest so you can basically just start a farm anywhere. Best of all, if you can't cut it, instead of being deported or placed in a horrible Japanese prison, you can just migrate to the suburbs.

You even get the experiences of foreign cultures, strange languages, uniformly black haired/brown eyed women, and being afraid of youkai while walking down roads through forests at night. Just think of it as Okinawa or something with the ability to still use America bux.

I don't think a simple village life is impossible for /jp/ as long as they don't intend to work together to achieve it because /jp/s are the laziest, untrustworthiest, whiniest loser bastards.

If I was stuck on a large island with a bunch of /jp/s I'd make sure to build my personal settlement far away from the "group who decided to work together" which would consist mostly of lazy ass smelly retarded leeching fucks. I can work very hard if it's for my own personal gain or for someone I care about, but I certainly wouldn't do it "for muh /jp/bros". Fuck them. Well some of you guys are talking about rice farming, for example. In the mountains. This means that before you can even begin, you need to dig out terraces. Are you going to bring your own backhoes and bulldozers? Probably not. So expect months of diggingdiggingdigging without planting a thing. Then when it comes time to plant, you guys do know rice grows in shallow water that you have to stoop down to plant, inspect and sow, I hope. And that's without even thinking about having to deal with water parasites, disease, keeping the terraces in shape and so forth. You could pick fewer more difficult crops to choose in the worst terrain for it.

You'd be better off trying to start an orchard of some kind, but the first pay off from that is like 2-5 years down the road, depending on the fruit. Also, maybe beekeeping, if you're not afraid of getting stung now and then.

So, would we build a shrine dedicated to Zun? Higher a Reimu 3DPD look-alike to take care of it for us? Rake in the Japanese NEET dollars when they journey to put money in our offering box?

I want to be a a drunk martial arts master hermit who travels around the mountains and occasionally bothers village folks for food and sometimes gets in trouble but uses martial arts to get away. It'd be cool too if I appeared as a 20-29 year old young woman.
