So to not disturb others who are anticipating other things, i made this thread.

In the packages folder the effect.TARC is 1.14GB and the img.TARC is 2.96GB. So it's mostly the graphics of the game that take that much.

Sprites were one thing. But for me it was mostly that the characters represented how they are in the games more better. Instead of using shikigami or "doppelgangers" to learn moves they had their own moves from the original games, even their own weapons. The new system feels a lot more generic. In DoD the original shikigami outclassed the touhous at the end of the game meaning there was little reason to even use the touhou shikigami by then.

They seem to be trying to fix that by making touhou characters main doppels in the new game and original monsters sub doppels, but at this rate I'll never know how it worked out because damnit let me buy your fucking game digitally strawberry bose fucking hell

>> No.11789681

Ok, I give up too.
It's really difficult to find the issue. It could be a bug, it could be a DRM in files, it could be some tricky internet security.

Bug could be caused by some unusual environment. Like I said before, because we skip proper installation, something important might be skipped too.
File DRM could be caused by specific game version. If someone checked files, he could see that ini files contain some unique keys (both game and install files) which could be used to separate legal and not so legal versions (though one of keys, if I got the point correctly, is used to decrypt data).
Internet security... the game wants internet connection before it can be played. I can't find where internet requests are sent in asm code. And I can't check what exactly is sent between local machine and their server expect of domain (accounts.something.net) because it uses SSL (if I got it right, I can't so easily read traffic without server private keys, at least I couldn't find a way for wireshark). If it's really internet one, it's likely to be before showing in-game main menu (because switching off internet connection doesn't change a thing).

Anyway, I'm tired to deal about this game. Let it be cracked by someone with proper skills.

Hm, managed to get traffic but it doesn't give a clear answer if it's related to the error. First 4 requests on the image are done before main menu, remaining ones are after loading a save. Server always answers with the same i-have-no-idea text lines 70-120 chars long.

>> No.11789895

Well, the best thing to be done at this moment (apart from waiting for someone else to crack) is to find where those codes are formed in the game code before sending to the server. If we could see what is used for them (and probably what exactly the server answers), it's likely to be clear if it's internet security or not.

Thought I should point this out, and I'm sure whoever is looking at the assembly already saw this, the exe has 4 command line switches:
-e / --enginedebug: Engine debug, looks for Engine_Debug.dll and crashes if it can't find it.
-d / --development: Development, looks for Engine_Test.dll and crashes if it can't find it.
-r / --run: Runs the game directly, bypassing launcher.
-c / --config: Launches config? Default behavior I guess.

Not sure what exactly these do, but you can rename the DLLs and it will launch. Not sure if it adds an benefits to debugging though, it might need a different DLL to work correctly.

Forgot to add. Date, as many can guess, it UNIX time so there is no tricks about it. The data which server and client use to interact seems to be some modification of BASE64 encoding (at least for encoding requests for server) - it has a mention about it in the program itself (not near the decode method which I manage to find), it uses the same index table as in BASE64, and it produces 4 chars of encoded data after reading 3 chars from somewhere (can't find the meaning, probably it's once again encoded request string; at least, the same request string produces the same encoded line).

This game's presentation is fantastic. The only off thing is that the sprite animation is janky, but battle effects are very nice and the sprites themselves are well done. Gameplay is fun even if I'm not completely sure of what I'm doing. After playing their previous games I have a well enough idea in any case. On the topic of actual gameplay, I really like how your dopple's cooldowns don't refresh at the end of battle, so you can't immediately use it at the start of a new battle for easy grinding by just fullscreen nuking over and over again.

I made the batch file in Windows 7, so there probably is some incompatibilities with XP.

Also, just wondering, why are you still running XP? Even Microsoft is ending support in April, you can't really expect third party companies to keep supporting an OS after the company that made it stops. It's really easy to just pirate Windows 7.

The funny thing is I dislike that, honestly. Like I understand why it's designed that way and I don't disagree with it (because being able to fullscreen nuke everything for easy grinding, as you said, would trivialize the whole game), but I dislike it because it makes it so you can't switch main doppels on the fly to suit the needs of that particular encounter.

As someone else said, you're not playing as Akyuu in this. The main characters name is Kurahinata Saya. IIRC the story had them as a descendant of the Hieda household that didn't go to gensokyo. Fucking yeah, I managed to decrypt that encryption which the game uses to communicate with their account server (not patch one, at least for now) and made a standalone program to encrypt/decrypt data. They used combination of base64 and some feedback cipher with two keys (one of keys is 2000 chars long, that's ridiculous). Probably now I can try to make a fake license file (or maybe not), I just need to feed installer with data which it expect to get from server and get license file in return. Knowing what data it needs, I swapped answers from server with ones I need (for now, it was done manually) and installer accepted it. So, technically I don't have "license file generator", only en/decrypter and knowledge of necessary data.

On the other hand, I checked if the data from file can be decrypted with the same program and it did. The content looks simple so probably I can add license generation too.

Great, so here i am thinking i am doing pretty good and then suddenly a boss with 8000 HP wrecks my shit. Normal enemies have around 200. I thought i was supposed to lose, but GAME OVER FUCK YOU. That a pretty extreme spike in difficulty. Characters take around 200 damage and die in 1 hit.

Ok, the same cracking anon. Having issues with some asm code for standalone license generation, I still tried to decompile Chinese one to have a better idea about what I should do. I managed to decompile and, dammit, that guy did a good job, his code a lot better than what I'd post if he didn't do it before me, he found some stuff which I doubt I would found (actually, I can't imagine how he got that stuff...) So, his application is safe, no malware (at least, if it's there then it's secretly injected) and good.

At this point, I have nothing more to do about the game. I'm sure his program can be used to look through client-server communication code too if anyone is interested in that. Anyway, here source code of his program, you can use it directly by installing python in case if you want to be safe just in case - http://pastebin.com/PxGHrQW2

Genius of Sappheiros has it easy in this regard at least. You get many more defensive tools in Genius of Sappheiros (Starlight Barrier, Reimu barriers, Private Square, Marionette Pariel, Little Legion, etc.), and a majority of the defensive tools in Nightmare of Rebellion are relegated to last words only. The only non-last word tools I've seen so far are Marionette Pariel (which is buggy from what I can tell; sometimes it doesn't do its damage reduction and it doesn't seem to get its cooldown reduction from Alice reaching level 5) and various single-target things (Physical/Magical Defense) and attribute things. There's no fallback party-wide "no enemy, you do no damage this turn" from what I've seen outside of last words.

From what i've seen it's like this:
Step 1: Pick the weapon you want to make better
Step 2: Pick the weapon that will be destroyed to make weapon 1 better

The first weapon will receive 1 new and empty slot after this. You can offer any weapon as long as the step 1 weapon has less than 2 slots. After 2 slots, the step 2 weapon will need to have slots as well in order to work. The game will show you which weapons can be selected so you won't lose a weapon for a fusion that would not work anyway. There is no advantage in offering a weapon with 4 slots to make a weapon with 0 slots better. You'll still only gain 1 slot. So far it seems to be impossible to transfer abilities. You just gain new slots for abilities from fusion. You can also offer weapons from different groups for fusion so you don't need swords to make a sword better.

Enemies drop the items you need to put abilities on weapons.

The red numbers in the center boxes indicate the highest number of hits at particular category. For example, Komachi specializes in melee physical attacks, so at level 1 she gives a 4 in that particular category, allowing melee weapons to hit 4 times per strike (as indicated by the black damage numbers). She also has a "1" under the attack magic category, so attack magic only does one hit. This also applies to healing magic and support spells as well.

In short, Reimu needs to be equipped with a doppel that specializes in magic attacks so she does more hits with them to multiply the damage.

Going by that you could have just about every character ranged since every single character has ranged attacks in the games since it's mostly bullet hell. >> No.11809785

Well, if they actually assigned characters to what they were, the spread would be even more lopsided. Melee and offensive magic type main doppels are abundant as hell while ranged and utility are really sparse. I'd argue it's probably like that for balance reasons at that point.

> but if even the characters you join with feel in no way like the characters they are supposed to be

But who are you to say that Tenshi's supposed to be a sword-using melee character? She spends most of her time throwing rocks and lasers, kicking, and occasionally summoning earthquakes. She doesn't really attack with the sword all that often. If anything range-classified Tenshi makes more sense than melee-classified Tenshi.

>>11809846

They're only overshadowed if you actually used a blunt melee weapon. I passed on them because for all intents and purposes they're short-ranged guns. Borderline same accuracy except guns get to attack the back. Plus spears and bows get to do debuffs too, although spears are mainly quick-status and not permanents. Although yeah I agree on not enough physical sub doppels.

>> No.11810024

No it doesn't since she is most skilled with using guns, not using magic lasers or throwing rocks in the game. There isn't even an earth element in this game. In fact, she has almost no skill with swords. You know, the weapon she just used in the fight against her? She knows multiple sword moves in her boss fight yet she sucks with those weapons? We can play that way if you want. Her only notable move was World Creation Press, and that was blunt. She was also weak to dark and heavily resisted light. But of course you'd rather focus on the whole "man she has to be a melee user because she uses a sword and she happens to use a few sword moves against you!"

Also, she's actually pretty good at attack magic too, cementing her traditional "I throw rocks and shoot lasers" thing she has going on.

Also also, Alice doesn't even do anything in this game half the time (I haven't seen Marionette Pariel damage reduction actually function at any point past the lava cave place early in the game), so I don't see the point of you bringing up the whole "she can kill a character with Alice in one hit" thing. As far as I can tell Alice is bugged so it doesn't matter really. Like your only reasoning in that regard is that Alice is de facto tank doppel (and you'd be right) except Mokou can do largely the same thing if you don't include the bugged Pariel.

Also also also, since we're talking about "Man that doesn't make sense, why is Tenshi a ranged doppel when she uses a sword and blah blah she should be melee", why is Alice a tank doppel and not a multi-elemental caster? She's traditionally a caster and a puppeteer, neither of which lends itself to "tank" role. So where the hell did that come from?

Two melee tank/damage dealers in front, three casters in the back. For the back row, stick Kedama on one character, Murei on another, and if you have Miko, you can stick her on a third. If you have the poison moth dopple from an earlier area, it also learns clearance and you can put that on someone in the front (it also resists poison so that reduces the poison damage). Saya equips Seiga.

First turn: Use the two casters with Kedama and Murei to use clearance and remove their own poison. The person with poison moth can use clearance another low HP character. The others can do anything like buff up or something.
Second turn: Use Seiga's aoe heal skill, use the two casters to use clearance for the rest of the party. Heal using Miko if needed.
All the poison should be removed if things go accordingly like this.

If shit hits the fan, sure as hell hope Saya's last word is readied to regain momentum.
