Ignorant plebeian.
Sasami's route was translated by Dango, who already did the TL for the original LB. He's also translating Saya's path currently.
Only Kanata's route has been done by a translator from Doki ("ndminh92" guy, never heard of him). Which might not be so bad after all, who knows. And even if it is, Kanata is a shitty heroine with a shitty route anyway, so no one will care.
Also, Phlebas, the editor for LB since the start, has always been affiliated to Doki. They have a few decent members too.

Where did I approve of Doki as a group? That's some really dumb interpretation here. As a fansub group, they're such garbage that even English-only peasants like you can make fun of them. That's saying a whole lot. And their leader is probably 3 times more autistic than the average /jp/er.

I was just saying that Phlebas did a good job on LB, hence Doki is not 100% composed of incompetent faggots, hence their translator for Kanata might surprise us and do some decent work as well.
But honestly, I can't say I'm surprised by those kinds of overly simplistic judgements emanating from here. Can't expect much more from neets after all.

It doesn't matter how wrong Doki's translation is there, the three groups besides Doki are from the same source for the scripts making it a useless for comparing anything besides the fonts the groups use. It is no more useful than grabbing some fansub group's release and grabbing 2 re-encodes of that group's release and pretending they are a different source since they were released under different names.

Sorry if it's written anywhere in /jp/ but I can't find it by ctrl f ing around or archive, just saw you guys discussing LB. Going to tell you a cool story while we're at it so you can see I'm not trying to laze out at all and need answers on these matters...

Been waiting it for years, I read the 4koma before it was translated and animated in 2006, was fun, and while I usually love being a purist, I was really interested in the new routes added in EX and posterior versions plus the additional content and fixes, so I skipped original's translations to not get spoiled as fuck and have a full experience right off the bat with all the new good changes. Hope I did the correct thing...seems so.

I heard there was some Radio Program CDs out there that are included with Converted animu edition? Have they been uploaded anywhere?

http://vndb.org/r22721

Also, I saw this a while ago.

http://vndb.org/r2919

Are these additions going to be included in LB EX?

What's the actual progress on LB EX anyway? You guys say almost all the new Routes are translated, what else is left for them to release, honestly, did they really need to work with Doki fags at this point just to do that?

Then there is also that final gay plot twist. I don't quite see how it was supposed to help the story that much by that point, though I bet a female or homosexual audience could masturbate to it nonetheless. I suppose it might be something one might be supposed to link back to obsession portrayed in the story and have the revelation link all kinds of dots or something, but given how I never managed to become interested/find myself to like any of the characters, doing so felt largely pointless.
Oh, and let's not forget the magical loli nazi. That thing just felt far too disconnected from anything presented previously in the story barring a few references and weak strings. But I also doubt that it was meant to be taken entirely seriously, though no matter the case I don't see much of a point in such a turn by that point of the story.

It wasn't exactly yesterday I read it so I there are lots of details I can't remember. But I believe my impression was something very close to this. I am guessing the writing might perhaps not been that bad ignoring the elements that was chosen to be the story, but the assumption that these elements might actually be things that others might actually find desirable in a story, I reached the conclusion that it might perhaps not be that bad but at the very least certainly nothing for me.

>> No.10367625

>>10367501
>that's pretty extreme, what did you hate so much about it?
Perhaps mostly the characters. I found the female executive of the very beginning to be one of the most intriguing characters. and she was killed off right in the beginning. The female smith was ok too, but neither of them had any notable screen time.
I could elaborate more in detail why I found the rest of the cast to be incredibly boring and or annoying, but that would make up for a larger and seemingly more unsightly post.

But there is also all that kendo/sword-play stuff. I imagine that for the interested that stuff might be something of the better things with it all, but for me with seemingly no interest in kendo found it to be incredibly dull. It reminded me of Tolkien breaking the pace in order to devote a couple of entire pages to describe some hills or a rock, though if I actually do believe I prefer elaborated exposition of the surroundings and its history than some martial arts details I find myself to be disinterested in.

But there is also that whole plot. Neither the revenge plot nor the revolution plot were things to catch my fancy at all. Focus on revenge can really disinterest me in a story. Most of the time it just tints things in varying levels of angst while on occasion promoting irrational thought pushing irrational actions tinted by said angst, neither of which sets a mood I am comfortable with/find entertaining for extended periods of time without things to contrast it. And it is my impression that it was in large a story with revenge being a very focused element for the most part of it, and one lacking in contrast to weigh it up. And as far as the revolution was concerned, I would like to argue that the perspective failed to capitalize much on it as an intriguing story element.

I just finished reading it.

Some of your complaints here are really valid and I entirely agree with them. >>10367625

However, the other complaints are misguided. The three endings available on the first play-through are serious possibilities. The other two endings are all just gags/fanservice. While I laughed my ass off, it's clear that they have no bearing on the reality of the story.

---

The kendo/swordplay stuff was mostly boring, but it at least set up the fights so that they could dramatize them without taking them outside the bounds of reality (i.e. no kamehameha)

The revolution plot was boring, the revenge plot was also boring, and the ultimate motives were unresolved and conflicting.

However, there were a few reversals that were done very well and that made a lot of sense.

There was no kiss scene. I just read the thing and there was no gay kiss scene that I can remember. He's already dying on the floor several feet away when the love confession occurs and there is no movement to go over to him.

---

The real complaint I have about Hanachirasu is that they never really let the characters fully develop and that the cause of the revenge seemed sort of trivial (particularly, the full dedication of Akane). There were some good ideas in there, but they didn't really get explored.

The story has no real message and no real interesting themes... so it was just an entertainment read.
