I never really had an interest in otaku culture until I started browsing /jp/. I never had an interest in VN or Touhou until /jp/. /jp/ also inspired me to collect figures and learn Japanese.

If I have absolutely no interest, chances of me exploring that are slim, but if a person is into anime, branching out into more general otaku culture is a natural progression.
