I still think Divina is one, if not the cutest game I have ever played. I got some very weird kind of enjoyment from playing that game as such a cute girl.

There was a /jp/ guild but I'm sure nobody plays it anymore. I'm also unsure the way the US version went compared to the JP version. In the JP version, clothes are completely optional. They give literally no stats and are purely for cosmetics. Money is taken from you buying items like clothing dye, or mounts, or other things. Most, if not all the things you buy in the store aside from the clothes and special pets/mounts can be acquired in the game. In that version, it's basically 'pay to be lazy' and 'pay to be cute'.

In the US version the clothes selection was much more limited at the time that I played and some items were created specifically to appeal to a western demographic. The clothes also applied very small bonuses, like .5% crit chance dodge or boost. They started that stuff immediately with the first round of clothes which is what bothered me. I don't know what they've done now. It may be pay to win now, which is exactly what a lot of people hated. Still, on the US version's website it's stated that you can add money to your account without spending real money by taking product tests, ect. I don't really trust it but it's there.

Either way, the Japanese version is seemingly open to all players. I'm in the US and I play on the Japanese servers. The main difference is that every time I want to play the Japanese version I need to update, because it seems to be updated far more frequently than the US version.

Not the same guy- I'm a 2k+ player with fairly powerful gear and an extremely strong character. I quit because the community in my server was huge assholes and hated me. I couldn't get into a group of friends. It felt like real life all over again. Everyone had their own cliques, and if you weren't good at blending into them, you get shunned or harassed. I just wanted to help people. Take it easy, hunt for gear, Do fun stuff. Instead I ended up sitting in town most of the time, occasionally talking to someone or helping a new player. Often being harassed and having to blacklist people who disliked me...

I don't recommend playing on Ruairi, its the biggest shithole in Mabinogi. I'd go back if I had a friend or 2 to play with, I could put up with the bullying and ignore them.

I'm pretty sure no patch for the English version to play on Japanese servers exists, although the server file itself is easy to edit. Not sure what would happen if you directed an English version sitting at 1.1 to the Japanese servers playing at something like 3.12. I'm sure some menus and stuff would remain in English, but any stuff added would probably be in Japanese, or something weird.

/jp/ played on the US servers.

One more thing, at the character creation you can select a voice for your character. I'm sure at the beginning the list for the Japanese version was as humble as the US version, but over time it's gotten gigantic with voices from seiyuu voicing a characters from recent popular anime or popular archtypes. The US version recruited some famous US voice actors as well, but you know how that usually goes.

I'm lonely and bored, and feel like playing an MMO. But every time I play an MMO I end up alone, sitting in town, with nothing to do and no one to talk to. It's a terrible experience.

Traps are usually fine but you won't do jack with that alone against the really big guys later on.

The thing about Thief is that they can do a lot of the damage as long as everyone else draws the aggro, their poor front damage and range is balanced by their damage potential from usable weak spots. The cutscene at the beginning of the game pretty much sums it up, using them as front attack unit isn't a very good idea, Fighters are the front attack unit, you have to abuse backstab damage and skills to get anywhere and that without getting damage.

The game has changed a lot in the past year, but if you only played for 15 hours then it's all new either way. The game changed so it's easier, but the learning curve is still steep enough it'll help to have someone to guide you on how to play.

It's very possible to play without paying nowadays (it helps a lot to buy pets for permanent storage, though). Make a human as your first character and then ask someone to transport you to the elf and giant towns for a free elf and a free giant. Start at age 17 and reset your level at age 20 when you rebirth. There are a lot more things that the game doesn't tell you, so again it's helpful to have someone as a guide.

I've actually went back or started out and investigated other boards after /jp/ was created while suppressing my disgust and origins just to see their activity and lurk around a bit. /tv/ adores korean shit and korean singers, there is no point to combining /jp/ with korean topics like that, only videogame niches that Japan is interested on.

Then, why not? Korean pop has a strong following in Japan (a "niche", if you will) and many otaku love it. Why is it that we can discuss Korean games in MMO threads but not Korean pop music in music threads? There are even Korean bands who release Japanese version of their songs and albums. Begin a thread with a picture of a Korean band or album in the same way this began with a screenshot from a Korean video game, and it will be deleted within minutes.

As an aside, I like both Korean music and games and think we should be allowed to discuss both on /jp/.
