Reporting threads is useless unless you proxy-report them 5 times at least.

No matter how off-topic the thread is, it won't get deleted if it doesn't get enough reports.
This is because an off-topic thread with only a couple of reports is considered ``harmless'' and harmlessness takes priority over rules.

That's retard logic. Yes, one report is useless without another four next to it, but there is, you know, more than one person in /jp/. You are one person, so you get one report. Five people would get five reports.

If nobody reports the thread it means nobody gives enough of a shit to make it go away, so it's probably not a problem. It doesn't mean that you need to marshal your extensive shitposting proxy network to make fifty "SHITTY JANITOR LEFT THIS THREAD ALONE" posts and personally report it two dozen times.

It kind of sets a bad example. If people see off-topic threads getting ignored, they will think it's okay to make similar, off-topic, but at the same time harmless threads.
I don't think it's that difficult to check the whole report queue instead of just deleting the first three or four most reported threads.

Tanks threads I saw on /jp/ were all about Touhou and other kawaii uguu skins and most of them were janitored. There was one on Halloween night I think.

That plane thread is just that, a video of plane video game. Absolutely nothing to do with /jp/, besides maybe the BGM. And still, the report queue got purged twice already.

The last time I made a thread about how shitty /jp/ was spring of last year. It was a mistake. I do, however, argue with retarded faggots like you in /ghost/ all the time.

All this /ghost/ bitching is mostly related to the lack consistency anyways.
One day nearly everything is allowed, the next day you get muted for posting a textless touhou thread.

Today we have free pass on everything it seems. Maybe because it's Friday.

So if you want to make some ``quality'' threads, you'd better do it now.

Just going to paste an idea I've posted on /img/ and /q/ a couple of times:

* Every user has a "report score". Obviously it's recorded in a database table and tied to an IP address, but it's otherwise anonymous.
* Whenever a user reports a post and it gets deleted, their report score goes up by 1 (or perhaps increases exponentially).
* Whenever a user reports subsequent posts, their report carries more weight depending on their report score. For example, the report queue could be sorted by the sum of the report scores of all the users who reported it.

This way, the reports of users who habitually report threads that are confirmed rule-breaking (because they're deleted) will have more chance of getting their reports noticed. It would basically increase the signal-to-noise ratio of the report system, and give users an extra incentive to report rule violations.

It would be strictly meta and behind the scenes. Anonymous doesn't mean "equal" (even if that's largely the point), it means "nameless". Banned posters have fewer rights than non-banned posters, for example. And there are already report limits in place for individual users.
