Because Denpa thread is very much denpa kyun kyun hai hai and you jam the denpa in there first, if you know what I mean.

I always prefer M3 over Comiket because there's much more non-touhou stuff, but it usually takes longer to appear for that reason as well.

That's patently untrue. People on 4chan buy and scan shit and share it publicly all the time, numerous translation projects started/visit/share here, and while it is less common, yes, people do share rips here. Go to /t/ and find the j-core thread, it's full of public rips by posters, and I do know a couple anons who I know through this site that post their personal rips as well. Beyond that, nearly all the Share and PD stuff that gets rehosted for the majority of the internet that can't get those obtuse sharing systems to work is processed by people here. The culture of "Our private club is the best because we take all the public shit and then only share our own with each other" isn't good for the community, and pretending that it is just functions as a mask to the fact that you're trying to make yourself feel proud that you're a more priviliged pirate than the other pirates.

I've successfully gotten myself into ASTOST and Taikoyc using Google Translate to navigate the registration process and requirements to earn notes/coins/points. It's not easy, and takes a little guesswork sometimes, but it's doable, it just takes a bit of work and patience. And there are people in those communities that speak English who will help you out provided you're willing to contribute your own shares and not just leech everything.

Internal .cue files reference the files that way before they get split, so once they do, it's left like that. Just change it to the extension of the file you need. It's not that hard.

Well, to some extent it's true that they use file formats that aren't common in the west. The real issue is the lack of consistency due to a chronically underdeveloped piracy scene. Every once in a while you'll run across something that's been put in some obscure cell-phone extension, or they've used some proprietary archive splitter, or whatever else. Japan never got organized with their piracy, so it ended up just being an 'everyone do whatever' kind of thing.

It used to be a lot worse. The fact that Share/PD/Winny became dominated by the same small group of uploaders uploading most of the shares led to their formats of choice kind of taking over eventually, which, while .tta isn't my favorite, at least it beats everything being a clusterfuck of different filetypes.
