Well... my magic vendor in my castle has them for sale often but that's also because I invested in her shop shitloads.

You can always hope your salary gives you one as an item.

If all else fails, use scrolls of inferior materials until those doomed items become made of RAW and then nomnomnom...

Frankly, none of the items look irreplacable. After all, the boots are only miracle.

Sorta. You're going to have trouble looking for light gear and then getting one hit by stuff because of your light gear. And wearing things heavier than light gear = MASSIVE DECREASE IN CASTING SUCCESS RATE.

Other than that, spell stock is annoying to replenish at the beginning of the game but later on, bolts and fireballs can wipe out masses of enemies easily. That is, if you can get to later on. If all else fails, at the beginning, raise your cha, go to the slave trader and get some strong slaves and let them do the fighting. Just carry a ranged weapon and ammo with you and stay back.

Oh, forgot to add, raise your cha by taking up CHA increasing skills like Negotiation, Investing and Performance. Eat cooked fruits. I wouldn't waste my feats on the +Cha feat (sexy pose/Lady killer).

And get weight lifting asap too, you'll need it (actually, all classes need it).

ether disease

>> No.994044

>>993990
oh, the teleporting is insane if you're doomed without anti-teleport gear on. It's like cursed on steroids. I've put on doomed gear for fun before in my castle. It was like 30 steps from where I was to my pile of important scrolls (vanish curse, enchant armors, change materials, etc...) and I teleported 5 times just trying to get there. I think I only managed to get there because the last teleport was lucky enough to put me within 2 steps of those scrolls.

Wow, I stayed outside once in etherwind without any protective gear for the entire duration of the etherwind and I only got 6 mutations. You must've stayed out for a couple etherwinds. Either that or your etherwind was extra long.

>> No.994098

If ether disease is the same as corruption in ADOM, then it always progresses at a steady rate until the counter reaches a certain level, then you get a bad mutation and everything continues until twice that level, and so on. Stuff in game can greatly speed up the corruption or slow it down. Potions of cure corruption take a large chunk off the counter, removing mutations if it drops low enough.

994223

Well, it took all but 10k of my money and way too much effort but I removed all the doom from my gear and when I tried to turn my boots raw because I was out of water it turned into emerald, so I had to go out and get yet another set of empty bottles to try and get another bottle of water. What a pain in the ass this was.

So watch out, if a mob can cast curse on you, it'll stack and you'll start getting doomed items.

what's the fastest way to gain platinum at the start to pick up the important skills quickly? the platinum page on the wiki says performing and harvesting but neither of those seem to be a very good idea to start out with.

Also, is there a list anywhere of which skills are taught by each trainer?

>> No.994275

Perform and harvest are easier later on, I find the easiest way to get platinum in the beginning is to ransack wells for a wish, get seven league boots, and then do "before it's too late!" quests, or book deliveries, or presents, whatever. Do not do the escort/beauty and the beast quests, however, as you are going to be too weak if you do come across assassins, and you will just lose karma.

There are monsters that can curse and doom your equipment.

>> No.994298

>>994240
The numbers on the bottom are you attributes, your speed, your chance of dodging an attack/how much damage you resist.

The first number by the crossed swords icon is your strength, which is 49. The armor is your constitution, which is 34. This continues through all attributes.

The boot icon represents your speed, 67. The fact that it's in red print means that it's being reduced somehow; most likely because you're burdened.

The -32 is your Protection Value (PV). It means that enemies have a 32 bonus to hit you, which is bad.

The 54 is your Defence Value (DV). It means that an enemies attack does 54 less damage to you than it otherwise would, which is good. What out for enemies with piercing attacks, as these ignore DV.
