About halfway done with Mama Love.
It's basically Damekoi 0.5, strange it's not as well known as the other Maruto since it's basically as good as the rest.
Anyways I'm liking it a lot, the pacing especially is amazing.

Also I'm rereading Saihate no Ima for the first time since I finished it years ago, the writing is even better than I remember and since I actually know how the whole thing works everything make a lot more sense.

Basically, the childhood friend route unexpectedly had NTR and it royally pissed off their fanbase. Due to the high development and advertising expenses, and the fact that the anime adaptation sold like shit, Kakyuusei 2 was a financial disaster that pretty much destroyed the company, and these days Elf is forced to only do NTR games because their old fans felt Elf had betrayed their trust and refused to buy anything from them ever again. Isn't the NTR in Kakyuusei supposed to be a twist? Heck, isn't NTR as a whole better as a surprise twist?

I find it hard to take things like "NTR games" seriously because they basically tell you from the get go that your girl is going to have sexy times with someone else. I thought it was supposed to make you feel shocked and angry, but I don't think I'm capable of that when they use that very "twist" as the selling point of the game.

Of course, I understand that if they don't advertise that then people will get angry, because apparently nothing fuels otaku anger as much as surprise NTR, but shouldn't it just be taken as sort of a genre shift on a smaller scale?

Route Before and Current finished.

So, if I have it right (which I probably don't), BC is a power that will let you time travel, become a ghost, possess people, access memories, and send terrorists fake pictures of your dead friends after mindcrushing them. Something like that?

I'd say it's "beyond understanding" for me at this point, but I don't really mind. I'm seeing it now more as an interesting, unique plot device, and less of a slow, baffling process of transforming Natsuhiko into some sort of multidimensional demigod.

Quality-wise, the end of Route B made me forget about the beginning of Route B (not that I needed help with that), and if I pretend Route C was a continuation, I'd say it almost justifies my broken mouse wheel. Almost

The Vita antialiases stuff, galge look pretty damn slick upscaled. The problem is that you have to get the game digital on PSN to play it on Vita, and rebuy games (sometimes at a cheaper price if you own the original, but a lot of galge don't fall under UMD passport), so you have to rebuy games you already own. In terms of performance and visual quality, the Vita improves existing games quite competently.

I really hope that they start releasing galge on Vita soon myself since that and MH was kind of a dealbreaker for me on PSP. Zennin Shibou was pretty good, but that's about it, and not entirely a VN.

>> No.9921548

I have played PSP games on the Vita, but at the end of the day, it's still going to be 480×272 or whatever, and going from 1200x675 to that is just... I'd rather wait and hope they release a PC version.

They do release Vita galge though. Dream C Club is on it, and so are some VNs like Little Busters. Granted they're ports of course. And that AKB galge is coming out for both PSP and Vita. I don't see why they couldn't have two versions for this game as well, seems a little silly to me. The majority of the assets are already high res.

>> No.9921558

Well, yeah, the Vita won't ever have more competent performance than on a PC. However, if I had to pick between one of the two systems as a dedicated galge device and had the option (Vita isn't exactly an option right now because of a limited digital library), I would pick Vita without much consideration.

You're right, there are some galge, but the spectrum of genres released are way limited. While the PS2 and PSP have an amazing library that goes from moege and ren'ai games (which I don't particularly like) to fanatasy action (Ayakashibito), sci fi (Itsusora is PS2, Saihate no Ima is PSP now) and so forth that caters to people with my taste. The vita's existing and immediate library isn't moving in that direction, yet.

I honestly say, don't even bother. Don't waste your characters to work as clerks.
Later though, when you can actually sell stuff, you can practically fill the store with all your best clerks, jump ahead a day or two and empty your entire stock in one go. But pre mid-game? Just do the Colosseum thing, and grind gold nuggets and stuff to sell by beating enemies.

I decided to pick up all those VNs I stalled, so I’m reading Edelweiss now.
I just cleared Harukas route, but there seem to be some CG missing. I googled it and found people saying they also missed some CG even though they cleared everything. I guess I will have to read the first scenes again to get all Haruka CG. I continued from a save I had but I guess it somehow didn’t include CG and progress.
After Edelweiss I’ll finish Osadai, or maybe the Sharin no Kuni fandisk.
I’ve got about 10 titles I started reading once but stopped, so I’ve got some catching up to do.

If you're looking for a quality slice of life game, NG delivers in just about every field. The protagonist is a bit hetare but totally likeable (imo). I highly recommend playing it. I finished Caucusus. I liked it up until the true ending, which was basically an avalanche of bullshit, even though I saw it coming. (Pic not related in any way, though. I just like Akane.)

It isn't like I didn't see the whole "The killer was with you the whole time!" plot twist coming. I could tell in the beginning they were setting it up by assigning her small personal distinctions; the broken finger and her love for cola were too obvious. I tried to ignore it for most of the game and give them the benefit of the doubt that they wouldn't pull something that stupid, though, because the entire premise was that you had been rescued in a snowstorm by happenstance. But, they went there, and it's never explained how it's all planned out. What if Venio never came by? Was Souko planning to die in the forest from hypothermia? What if she came around and just took her back to the base of the mountain? How did all these things just happen to come together? Did Souko go on a survivalist excursion in the forest monitoring traffic from the residence weeks before? They don't even try to explain it but it's all part of some grand design.

>> No.9928256

>>9928249

(cont.)

It might have actually come across as plausible even still, had it not been for the fact the writers insisted on cramming a sentimental personal back story into the very end of the game as soon as it's revealed it's her. If it were totally random and she was just joykilling random people it'd at least be coherent given the circumstances of the story, if still out of left field.

Beyond that, though the game is meant as a mystery and you're invited to reason about characters' motivations and relationships to each other, and yet the killer ends up as the one person with no actual apparent relevance to the plot. The only material evidence I'm aware of that you're given are the Shion's glass and the garbage at the murder scenes. The garbage is not in any way identifiable as bandaging, and the glass doesn't prove anything. Supposedly it must Souko's since the kitchen blew up and apparently no one else keeps any glassware in their rooms, but in all the other routes it's Maya who brings it to Shion.

Whatever.

I always assumed that the mansion was never really that far from the point where they "got lost". Souko was clearly aiming there from the start and then going to exclaim "We found this mansion by accident, let's take shelter!", but then Venio game along and gave them a ride instead.

>Beyond that, though the game is meant as a mystery and you're invited to reason about characters' motivations and relationships to each other, and yet the killer ends up as the one person with no actual apparent relevance to the plot.
You did get the diary? And you can also find other evidence around the mansion, f.ex. picture of Shion/Kanon's mother, which triggers some dialogue with various characters, though it's not necessary for True ending.

What bothered me the most though was that the real killings never start if you catch Shion at the very beginning. It's just an accident that her motives coincided with Souko's, so it doesn't make sense that she just ditches her revenge idea because of that.

>"We found this mansion by accident, let's take shelter!", but then Venio came along and gave them a ride instead.

It still seems remarkable she was able to plan all this to be in the general right spot on the onset of a sustained three-day blizzard and gamble on the hospitality of the residents without any foreknowledge of the residence. I didn't suggest it was impossible but it seemed so absurd I consciously considered it and wrote it off at the beginning of the game.

>You did get the diary? And you can also find other evidence around the mansion, f.ex. picture of Shion/Kanon's mother, which triggers some dialogue with various characters, though it's not necessary for True ending.

The diary's unavoidable so of course I got that, but still, that's near to the very end of the game and even then it only mentions Kanon in passing, that she got burnt and ran away from the hospital. I didn't actually come across anything else having to do with Kanon or Marino in the game, so maybe that stunted my whole experience of the story. I had all that backstory dumped on me directly before finding out Souko was the killer. Were you able to decide Souko was Kanon before the game told you?

>What bothered me the most though was that the real killings never start if you catch Shion at the very beginning. It's just an accident that her motives coincided with Souko's, so it doesn't make sense that she just ditches her revenge idea because of that.

I don't have answer to that. Though, what's worse I think, is if you fail at identifying the real culprit in the true end. Everyone stops believing you immediately and Maya lies to the police the next morning about the victims, and everything returns to normal. This is after you and Narumi found Maya's torture room in the basement with Akari's dead body and after having pointed Shion out as Rokuyo's killer.

>>9933209
>Were you able to decide Souko was Kanon before the game told you?
Yes, after replaying the same scenes and endings a few times (before starting to use a walkthrough) but I can see where you're coming from. The True End itself doesn't really give enough hints, but some of the optional stuff and bad endings do. F.ex. in one of the bad endings (摩夜逮捕 I think) you get a H-scene with Souko and she asks the protagonist not to take her shirt off, explaining she has a bad looking burn scar. I also got the normal 事件解決 ending (featuring the diary) a bunch of times and accidentally found the photo in Jin's room during the blackout so that also helped.
>Though, what's worse I think, is if you fail at identifying the real culprit in the true end. Yeah, it's the same shit with 事件解決. I was raging at how they never mention the torture room to the police.

Oh, that figures, for half of the H-scenes I put them on auto and browsed the Internet until they were over.

>Also the 三つの欠片 bullshit... The game never even tells where to look for those pieces of wood.

I found two of three on my own. They even show up at particular preset times in the game; I mostly stopped snooping around rooms I'd already been to early on because I figured I'd sweeped them already.

>The game probably would've been better as a traditional VN. Without a walkthrough it ends up being a replay fest for specific flags.

That wasn't really a surprise after KnS, the flags in that game were ridiculous. I gave Caucasus one run and got near to the end, and then just fell back on a walkthrough for all the rest.

Just finished the trial for Witch's Garden.

This is pretty much a straight up moefag's wet dream, however not being a moefag, it bored me to tears. The writing is passable, the dialogue is trite nonsense, and the characterization is pretty cardboard. There's no story to speak of, at least in the trial.

The emote system definitely gives the game a much more dynamic feel and it makes it feel like an actual game instead of a bunch of pictures overlayed with text. The problem is that the text is at the bottom of the screen which is where you tend to keep your eyes at but of course all the movement is happening above so you have to keep shifting your gaze. A system like >>9934198 or alcot's games where the text box appears next to sprites would solve this problem.

During the H-scenes, the MC was pretty forward and in control of the girl which I liked.

You did the right thing anon. The good ending feels really contrived and makes some stupid ass pulls. I’m like that I think. But I think a happy ending after a depressing one feels very good and healing. Like in Kira Kira true end, without the depressing Kirari normal end it wouldn’t have felt as good.

I'm playing the Kara no Shoujo trial version. It's set two months earlier and so far takes place from Yukari's perspective. Kind of weird to play after finishing the main game already.

I'm planning on playing Shukufuku no Campanella. Everyone says its plotless and boring moe trash, but I sat through some 70 hours of inane banter in Amagami and enjoyed it, so I don't see why I'd feel any different.

Shufuku no campanella it's great in my opinion. I could play it again and relax just by listening to the characters voices and being pulled once again into the world they reflect.. I just love it.. I also love amagami.. People may call it boring.. and shit.. but I think they are just used to thick plots.. In any case, it leads to an ending with Mare. Obviously it's worth it if you like Mare. Also, it's not much of a route considering how short it is. And... Luriastis route complete. I think it ended a bit abruptly, but I guess the epilogue made up for it, complete with Ruria making a surprise come back after having temporarily separated and having the protagonist propose to her. Includes obligatory slightly tasteless scene where the protagonist nearly fucks her brains out soon after reuniting. There's also an extra scenario with everyone else away from the hotel while the two of them make babies. Dear lord, every time she said "Papa" I got an uncontrollable erection.

Nothing unpredictable or particularly good (except the art, which I thought was pretty good, with the feet massage and proposal CGs being especially good), but there you go. Still, Ruria hit pretty much all of my buttons (with the added joy of being voiced by the only VA I pay any attention to) and was unbearably cute during the whole game, despite how her constant apologizing and apparent inferiority complex would probably annoy some people. I don't think I've ever wanted to order eroge merchandising so much before.

That aside, I'm fairly sure I'm not going to play through the other routes due to lack of interest and inevitable Ruria rejection remorse. I think I'll play through the Witch's Garden trial or go for a route or two in ShukuSaku or Hanairo Heptagram for another dose of sugar while waiting for next month's releases.

It has great style (which includes the OST), but for a character-centric VN, its cast is a mixed bag of amazing people and unlikable retards. And you can't just ignore the latter, the game's system won't let you. The main thrill of the plot (the risk of fulfilling a wish) is also heavily spoiled by the fact that you can make a wish to resurrect someone.

It has great premise, but the implementation is average. At least it's great for learning the language.
