Riding the trains in Japan was one of my favorite things about it. But hey, I love trains. I love looking at them, riding on them, hearing them, taking pictures of them etc but I couldnt give a shit about the actual mechanics of them. Pretty assburgers I guess.
I loved how you could see out the front of the train a lot in tokyo. Yamanote line is great.

Kyoto subway and JR lines were fun too, probably more than Tokyo's. That light rail car to Arashiyama was the shit.

Worst rail in tokyo was that fucking piece of shit across rainbow bridge to odaiba. Nice view though. I wish my city was this futuristic. Have a picture I took.

Do you use it? Do you know anything about it? The oldest cars are from the late 1960s on a single line and are being retired next year I think.

Maybe you should take a look at the NYC subway map.

>> No.9933013

>>9932906
Yes I've used it, it's loud, uncomfortable and the cars sway all over the place like they're not even running on rails. Seemingly unlike you, I've also used subways other than that and can quite confidently say pretty much every other one I've used is vastly superior, with the exception of another American one, in Boston which is just bizarre. Hell, I'd even take London's incompetent, striking subway over New York's, at least on there I wouldn't slide from one end of the row of seats to the other every time the train starts and stops. Beijing's is also significantly better in pretty much every regard, along with Hong Kong's and Singapore's. They're all modern, smooth, efficient and incredibly reliable. I'm not even going to mention anything in Japan since it'd be like comparing a supercar to a Reliant Robin and would simply blow anything America has to offer out of the water.
Also, if you think just looking at a map of the New York subway would somehow prove it's not an archaic system that uses, like you say, 50 year old trains then you're very much mistaken. Nor would it change the fact that the majority of New York's stations are old, dull, rat infested, worn-down buildings.
At one point it was a good system which did rank amongst the world's best, but after decades going by with minimal funding it has been clearly surpassed by countless other nations by a long, long way and you'd be blind or ignorant to not recognise that.

I don't think any subway car in the world is comfortable and that is not what I am thinking about when I use the subway. I don't know why you are throwing a tantrum over the logistics of comfort during starting and stopping. If you want to talk delays, service changes and FASTRACK than I will gladly bitch about the NYC subway with you. But arguing about comfort? Seriously, on a subway?

As for the stations? Yeah, most are pretty run down but most of the major ones are getting remodeled.
