I had a dream where I was playing FE and I could somehow choose between Original Saber and Aka-Seiba, and I couldn't make up my mind about which was best. While Aka-Seiba is badass, I feel the original might be more moe.

Nero is there as Arturia substitute and originally Arturia was there as receptacle for Shirou's heroism and dick with a tragic backstory so you can sympathize with her, but can you seriously say that F/SN was made with the backstory of Saber in mind as one of the plot pillars? I don't think so, she's just a "catalyzer" for the Shirou/Emiya character and a nice face and body, with this I don't mean she's irrelevant, but she's not deep, at least not deep enough to matter if you change her backstory and personality.
